It’s one thing to use ai in your work and be dishonest about it, but it’s another level of hypocrisy to actively pretend you’re against ai just to throw people off your trail. shame on anyone who does it and shame on those who try to moralize against it while doing the exact same thing behind the scenes. no amount of anti ai posts on your message board can change the fact that your work will always speak for itself. when something is glaringly ai generated, people can tell. readers on this app are getting more vigilant and once they recognize a writer who relies on ai, there’s no undoing that. you can’t walk it back and you can’t hide behind performative outrage forever.
@blackrxse05 exactly!! it’s so insulting to the real authors on this app who are actually here bc they want to improve. people are genuinely so supportive on wattpad (esp in the applyfic community) so trying to excuse ai use makes no sense. i’m convinced they’re just blaming the community to try and justify using ai as a cop out instead of admitting they don’t want to put in the effort to write on their own.
@velocityalt and then trying to justify using ai as wanting to belong to a community just sucks. I'm sure all of us has spent a lot of time on improving our writing skills when we also just could have taken the easy way out. It's like spitting on the face of the people who have improved their work from scratch and also the beginner writers here who are genuinely putting so much effort. I can understand wanting to belong somewhere, but going that low for that? Where is the dignity? Where's the self-respect?
hey love, just wanted to make you aware that Alice, one of your admins for blockbuster, deleted her account because she was called out for writing her forms using AI - just in case you want to replace her oc, although it's understandable if you don't (I'm personally too far along in my book at this point, insert eyebags emoji)
@velocityalt it's been bothering me too, she just avoided any confrontation or apologies by ghosting and deleting everything immediately. she could fairly easily make a new account and start fresh and it's not like we would know. I'm just so frustrated that in these spaces where we're doing our hobbies for fun, people are commercializing and ruining it. I don't see the point in participating in applyfics if you aren't going to, y'know, participate, since it's not like we're making any money. what do you get?? compliments from well meaning friends??? of course! I'm very grateful to my group of friends who pointed her behavior out to me because I really wanted to assume she wasn't doing anything wrong.
@wxnderland_addict ghosting you after you confronted her is such a terrible move on her part. i’m really sorry that happened to you ☹️ i’m glad she’s no longer on the app, but at the same time it feels really unsettling that she seems to have gotten away with it without any real consequences. the fact that she was even implying she might come back someday is especially strange given everything that’s come out about her actions. thank you for taking the time to inform me, i really appreciate it! i’ll do my best to let others know as well vc she may have lied about her reasons for leaving to more people than we realize and they deserve to know the truth too, esp those who have allie in their applyfics. you’re absolutely right that her spot should go to people who genuinely wrote their forms in their own words, not to someone who relied on ai to do the work for them.
@velocityalt yeahh I got the idea from someone else that she might have let people know before she left, not me though, just ghosted completely as soon as I tried to confront her :) I gave her the benefit of the doubt for a while too on account of her being so nice and supportive! anyway, no problem at all, just wanted to make sure others aren't affected by her actions, the whole thing is really disappointing. and I'm sure there's someone else who's written an OC with their own ideas that deserves that spot <3

happy black history month!
let’s all try to do better by focusing on education rather than attacking people on their message boards. being hateful instead of informative doesn’t actually achieve anything, esp when these situations get reduced to “drama” or a chance to cancel someone. the more constructive approach is to report the users involved and put our energy into sharing resources and information with those who are genuinely willing to learn.
this is in reference to the recent situation involving a few users on this app who have been sympathizing with problematic political figures. @BEETLEBUMPS wrote a really incisive post about it on her message board if you want to check that out. she also put together a document with resources, further reading, and ways to donate to people in need around the world right now. please consider sharing it on your own message boards so we can help educate more people.
