Guys I’m going crazy. I’ve been trying to find the name of a specific bird for over three weeks now and no one and nothing knows what I’m talking about. I can’t even manage to get a photo of these things to show people.

They’re so common I literally see the every single day no matter where I am, and I’ll point at the them and go “Look right? That the bird!” But on one else sees them.

To top it all off, my father (who already knows a lot about Australian wildlife and has been my go-to for this kinda thing in the past) refuses to give me a straight answer.

I’m genuinely going mad, I think I might have hallucinated an entire species of bird. Except for the fact I KNOW I haven’t ’cause I literally must saw one go by as I was writing this!!!!!!!!

Hey guys, if I was to start writing a book that was like a one-shots but also there was like a plot and storyline, do you think people would read it? Like, it would be based around one of the canon couples, just after the books end, and would just be like short little looks into their lives after the canon books but also each chapter exists in the same world and contributes to a storyline.

I hope that makes any semblance of sense. If you think you’d like to see that/people would actually bother reading it please tell me!!

@venus_draxum90 as long as you have good advertising

Guys I have an issue. So, I’m trying to create a Silk/Hive hybrid for a little au of mine and the problem is the colouring. According to the books, SilkWings can be any colour under the sun except for black, and HiveWings can be anything from red to yellow but they all have some black on them.

So like, what do I do? How would I make their colours work? Do I just make one of the parent’s tribe’s traits trump the other? And if so, which one?

I need help, this has really stumped me guys.

@venus_draxum90 I would love that and once I actually have time, I'm going to put more work into the new WoF theory book I'm making so I can publish it later

Yeah, I like everything you’ve said and I agree on pretty much all of it. A few little finishing points I want to make is that I find it really funny that we’re debating these genetic traits that in all reality have little logistics behind them past the plot convenience. Also, something interesting that my mother had to say what that it is possible that SilkWings, being the product of BeetleWings (which we assume can carry and show black scales) and evolution could carry the ability to have black scales as a recessive gene, but never show it. Just some things I wanted to add.

I think I’ll likely end up giving the offending hybrid dragonet the “black scales” genetic, similar because it’s easier and also because a lot of butterflies have black on them anyway. Thanks to everyone who responded for helping me come to this conclusion.

Oh, and @-chiiu- I’d love to hear more of your theories, share some of my own and debate you a bit again. Considering this is technically how we became friends in the first place, I rlly miss these kinds of well thought out conversations and arguments w you!!

Well i think I might have a good answer for this. Even if the hybrid your trying to come up with has a Silkwing mother and Hivewing father, I think the 'black scales' gene would still pertain dominance and here's why: we know some of Clearsights children were male, and surely some of their children were male too. And when they had dragonets with female Beetlewings, the 'black scales' gene would have had to be passed to all of their children no matter what or Hivewings wouldn't be a tribe.

See, if only Clearsights female dragonets had the more dominant 'black scales' gene, there never would have been enough Hivewings to be their own tribe thus leading the gene itself to fade away after some time.

In turn that's actually where I got my head cannon that Hivewing's (no matter which parent) would generally have to have stronger genes. So the 'black scales' gene would just always be dominant in the offspring of that specific tribe because its the dominant gene of both male and female Hivewings. In a sense it's like the 'black scales' gene would have evolved to be specifically dominant/stronger in Hivewings- almost like instead of it being a originally Nightwing trait, it would be considered a completely separate gene from the one Nightwings can directly pass down. (I can offer a separate expiration of that if it doesn't make sense)
