The example story for my contest is up! Here it is:
‘Excuse me!' Keeley was pushing through the thick stream of people rushing from the University, struggling under the weight of the crowd. Someone bumped into her. Slowly, she looked up.
'I'm sorr—Oh, Alexei! I didn't see you there! Thank goodness'!' She panted heavily. Hand in hand, they pushed through the crowd; an implausible task for the short brunette and tall ginger. Sweating, the slowed down dramatically and breathed heavily.m
'I got your text.' Alexei raised his phone in the air. Keeley beamed.
'Great! So, where to?'
After what felt like hours, Keeley handed Alexei over her research study along with schedule.
'Here.' Alexei's dark eyes skimmed over her work. A sad smirk moulded into his face. Setting the file down, he turned to face Keeley, who absent-mindedly tucked a strand of brindle hair behind her ear.
'You're missing something. It says here that Hypothandritis causes brain damage, when really . . . ' Alexei fished out his phone again, ' . . . It means this.' Keeley's expression changed faster than a set of traffic lights. There, in bold, did the truth shine bright like a winter coat on a 35 degree day. In between the parallel lines that made up the phone, the words: 'HYPOTHANDRITIS; error, no results found' were projected onto the screen. Keeley spluttered, her gesture totally not sincere.
'But . . . But it's true! I know it's true. Maybe . . . maybe . . . ' Alexei cut her off with a look that could kill.
'What did you say caused it? Oh, yeah. Gangrene!' He walked away laughing. Keeley's eyes brimmed with tears. Along the street, Alexei spitted.
