People are often confused about my name. Then I started telling its history and evolution.

My mom really wanted to named me, "Vivien." It was the name of her late best friend who, according to her stories, is the most intelligent and beautiful person that she had met in her entire life. When she was pregnant, her best friend keeps on bothering her in her dreams until she gave birth to me. And so, she decided to give me that name. Then my granny, who is a "waray," arranged my birth certificate since she knows the whole process well than my mom. Unfortunately, instead of writing Vivien, she had written Viven. According to her, she was having a hard time back then remembering the name that my Mom told her to write. They thought that Viven is still fine so they just decided to keep it as it is. Until I enter prep and they were asked to bring a copy of my NSO. They were shocked when they saw "Veven Cristobal" on it. Mom said that they planned to correct it but the school needs to get the documents as soon as possible so they can include my name on the enrollees list. Since it'll be a long process to correct my records, she just let it as it is, AGAIN.

And now here I am. Kinda irritated because I was given a single name (not as complicated as others' who have all the letters in the alphabet on their names and who have names as long as the Wall of China) yet its still misspelled. Dad said it will be hard to change it now since all my school records like diploma from kinder to college, have that not-so-good name. I laughed when he said that its just a name. It has nothing to do with my fate.

And so I agree.
