I’m not sure if I’ll put AFITS back up on here, but I want to announce to anyone who read it that it is not dead. It just needed some time to marinate while I worked out the kinks. The story is nearly unrecognizable from the original, and the characters have changed a lot, but I’m a lot happier with the way this version holds up than I was with past versions.
hi, i know you are busy with work (which i totally relate to and understand, no pressure at all) just wanted you to know you and your story are missed :)
I put AFITS back up and I figured out why I was feeling so stuck, so that's good! I'm not sure how often I'll update it but I'm GOING to finish this ugly, messy, beautiful first draft if it kills me.
I also wanted to let you all know what I'm thinking of renaming it. The name fit my original vision but I don't think it fits what the story is turning out to be! I'm thinking of naming it North Node, or maybe Flower in Ice. We'll see!
it will be a travesty if you don't finish it. these last few chapters have me losing my mind they're so good. I think maybe the solution to your problem to not having planned it and not knowing how to end it is to not be afraid to make big moves/revelations. idk it it's supposed to be the first of a series, but kai's goal has been to find his uncle this whole time right? so maybe that could just be the resolution, and whatever has to move to make that happen can fall into place. and then the next books resolutions can focus on the larger government problems. just a suggestion
I intend to finish it! It just might take a while. And I think that’s a good suggestion. I’m always worried about rushing things along but I think I might have to get over that.

@vilest honestly, i did not change that much. just replaced kruberea with a pasargadaen equivalent, edited a lot of grammer (but not enough lol)
@minahava Okay cool!!! Just so you know, there isn't really any ending, I'm not even sure how I'd pull one off (I really regret not planning) but I can happily publish what's written And speaking of Ants, I'm really excited to go back and reread it and see what's changed when I have the time
yea i did the same thing with ants, changed it, then reuploaded. I have a new job too and starting saturday i finally have a little break so if you put the chapters i didn't get to back up i'll read them :)

And the first draft of AFITS is complete!! I didn't realize I'd written the ending 9 chapters ago, which is kind of funny. I hadn't originally planned for it to take up more than one book, but as time went on I realized there was too much story for just one book. So that marks the completion of book one draft one!
It feels so good to have completed something, even if it's as messy as AFITS.

@ellehcelliab - The Ants that Carried Us - Such a unique world, with a plot that I can’t tear away from and so much family drama it puts anyone’s Thanksgiving to shame. Great characterization and a very introspective writing style.
