I have a story I’m working on. Would people read it?
All shows, books, and movies have those side characters that everyone loves. That one best friend that the protagonist makes tag along on all of their adventures. The genie in Aladdin. Paris in Gilmore Girls. Christina Yang in Greys Anatomy. All of these characters have one thing in common: it isn't their story, and I'm sick and tired of that.
My name is Sam Parker and I am a side character. I don't try to be one, but it seems the only people I am drawn to are the main characters. Now I could tell you that I am 24 but that isn't entirely true. You see, the thing about being a supporting role is that you don't have to live. I have lived many adventures throughout my tedious life. So, in actuality, I am as old as stories themself. I have ghost hunted, sailed the rough waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and solved many murder mysteries. (P.S. it's never the butler.) In all of my exploits, I have never survived.
Maybe this life will be different. I have yet to meet the hero of this life. This could be the time that I take control. I write the story. I become a hero.
"Excuse me, Sam, the library is closing."
"Come on, Ms. Johnson, I'm working on my memoir."
"Sam, you haven't lived long enough to write about your life."
"Oh haha, you have no idea, Ms. J"
"You have until I get ready to leave.”
Ms. Johnson was the owner of the local library. She was an older woman whom I had previously met about 2 lifetimes ago. The thing about dying and coming back to life is that you don't want people to know that you are basically immortal, so you have to keep changing yourself: your name, your home, your appearance. Ms. Johnson doesn't know about my long, long life. She knows only about my newest most current one.
"Sam, I will see you tomorrow?"
"You know it."
