Hi Cate, I just finished reading Female Gaze and loved it. The inner emotions portrayed by Brie and Rhett hit home on so many levels that it felt surreal. Also, being a professor and seeing how students like Brie get impacted by the unintentional (can’t be unbiased) silence from their advisor gave a different perspective. But you know at the end of the day advisors are just like their students, fighting their insecurities, and love to get validation from their students :) I loved how real your characters are. Your book title gave me an idea about a research article title (on a research that my students and I are discussing for sometimes) but I wanted to ask if that would be okay with you.

My students, collaborators, and I do a lot of research pertaining to neurodiversity and neurodivergent people. We are working on a publication that will analyze the neurotypical perspective on neurodiversity. I really liked the play on male gaze to female gaze and I was thinking it might turn out to be a similar thing (instead of neurotypical lens/perspective, it will be neurotypical gaze)…still thinking.
