Sorry it took me about two years before I could start writing again. I'll do better this time.
Excerpt for Chapter 20:
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"Is anybody else supposed to come?" I ask Gael.
He shakes his head.
"Shhh... Do me a favor. Close the door behind me. We're in the middle of nowhere. Nobody should know were we are." He whispers.
My head immediately shakes ready to argue- but when I see his expression, the predatory gleam in his eye, I decided to concede.
Just for today.
True to my word, I close the door behind him as I immediately locate his closet, which I'm pretty sure is his arsenal. He's not very good at keeping things hidden. I hear a crash and then-
"Rina! It's safe to come out now! Put down those guns! It's just Darrell!"
I try to destroy the warm feeling that surrounds me as I try not to read too much into the fact that he knows me so well, as I put his gun back down. Loaded.
"And unload it too!"
Fine.
