            scowling one last time , wishing he could just smack that look of smugness off from wesker’s face .  but william knew better than that , knew better thank to cause that reckless rivalry they once had back to its surface .  “ as you should .  i won’t let anyone here make a fool out of me  ,  the g-virus will become the next greatest thing i’ve ever made .  ”  and he was determined to accomplish it by any means necessary ,  although there was this nagging feeling in the back of his mind..  as if longing .  perhaps he did miss wesker’s company most of all within these labs , but he surely wouldn’t let himself be seen as vulnerable or soft anytime soon .  “ no promises  ,  albert .  you know i’m not good at following those kinds of order .  but—  i suppose i’ll TRY if it will satisfy you so much .  ”

            that certainly did please wesker. he finally looked up, meeting william with a faint smirk.         ❝ i have the utmost faith. ❜❜        it wasn’t him who albert distrusted, it was the people surrounding him, influencing him when he might be uncertain. it triggered this need for control that he could hardly exert with his current schedule. 
            wesker faintly wished he had never left the lab when there are these reminders, the atmosphere more familiar to him than anything else —- bringing a sense of belonging.
                  serenity. he would never admit something like that in front of will, though. even the visitor chairs were far more comfortable than anything back at the rpd.        ❝ and william… see to it that you do take care of yourself. you better look more alive than those test subjects the next time i see you. ❜❜

            there HAD been progress , loads of it .  william just wasn’t willing to out it yet , even to someone as trusted as wesker .  maybe the virologist has become obsessed since becoming head of this research , even annette grew more and more concerned each day .  “ fine .  i know better than to get YOU in a bad mood .  if it pleases you so much—  yes i HAVE made some wondrous progress .  it just needs more time .  i’ll prove it to you .  ”  that’s where the restless nights came in , it was surprising how william still remained on his own two feet to begin with .
