Had a friend read my story and got into the discussion of using Y/N in the story since it took them out of the immersion when reading.

I admit, I feel the same way sometimes and I’ve tried to minimize it as much as I can but it’s difficult in certain situations.

I’ve looked up where people used [name] or just a blank like, “Hey, _____.” but these seem worse to me.

At this point, writing an original character sounds better since I end up replacing the main character in my head anyway.

I was wondering if anyone has any opinion on this, don’t care, or even have seen a better replacement for Y/N?

I never really thought about it until it was mentioned to me. I noticed myself pausing to replace Y/N with my name. But I definitely agree that the quality of writing helps with immersion.

In my opinion it doesn't really matter, but I'm personally more used to the Y/N format. Everyone has different preferences in fanfics I guess. There is no universally good fanfic that everyone will enjoy. I think the actual writing of the story is more important than little aspects like that. Especially since majority of reader insert fanfics on here are generally pretty low quality in terms of writing, planning, or even just grammar.

My friend suggested that the OC have a nickname so that it’s not actually a random name. It may be a random nickname but it cant be perfect.

I just wanted to say, cause I noticed I haven't yet, that the books are amazingly well written apart form like one or 2 spelling errors. The storyline is well thought out and it seems like a genuine occurrence of events. The way you describe things and events is really well done. I love your use of dialog especially the use of "hey beautiful" and "hey handsome" near the end and how it sums up the two characters relationship. I really love the ending in the second book. It's the small things you do really well. Im a supporter. Keep writing

@BPFTX1 that's exactly what I thought. These two books literally went on to inspire me to write my own, because of just how well done they were

Thank you so much for the kind words. I never thought I would’ve written this type of story, let alone two. I’ve been trying to write more but it’s slow going. I hope I’ll be able to release something but we’ll see.

I prefer Y/N to other stuff. But man is there any possible way of getting the chords to the breakup song in "Setting you free." Or smn but man it hits man I got all emotional when listening to it

Its a song called Let Me Be The One by Jimmy Bondoc. It definitely hits right in the feels.

Hey I know the story is wrapping up in a few chapters (sadly) but there's some extra content for you in case you didn't know (good and bad)

          - Lisa was chosen as one of the Fashion Jury for a prestigious French fashion award (I forget the name)

          - Lisa's grandfather passed away on her birthday this year :( (idk if it would be good to add this tho)

          - Then there's all the magazine covers she's been having, including the one that just dropped today (although it might not be significant in the story)

Just some stuff that I thought you could use. Can't wait for the next update :D

@voiceofrandomness She did mention it in one episode of Youth with You, but I agree. We should respect her privacy

I appreciate the suggestions, although I already have the last chapters mapped out. I actually didn’t know about the Fashion Jury fact. I heard about her grandfather passing, but since she hadn’t released anything about it, I didn’t want to include it to respect her privacy. Thanks tho!

Fuck you for being too good at writing. I absolutely love your stories. They made me cry ffs.

Had to do a bit of editing on the chapter, Rumors of Setting You Free, because I’ve been getting writer’s block recently and it was bothering me when I re-read it.

I’ve been trying to push through the writer’s block because I don’t want to keep you all waiting but it’s been a little rough. I’ll try to proofread better for future chapters.

Hoping Lisa gives us more content with her birthday for inspiration.

Thank you for the kind words!

The writer’s block comes and goes. I know where I want the story to go but sometimes the words to get there just doesn’t want to come out. I will do my best to keep going though!

And for you, I hope you're feeling well now. Broooo, writer's block is so annoying but if you think that your chapters need a little bit of change(but the story is so far so good), its all up to you. ;) Besides whatever happens we still gonna support youuuu ❤️

Lastly, keep fighting through your hard times in life! I'm pretty sure you're a brave blink, and we blinks never give up and do things as if its our last (I know I cringe ). I hope you're doing good now, love lots from us to you ❤️

Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town and won’t be writing this weekend so next update for Setting You Free will be delayed.
