the news of liam’s passing was so sudden, i can only imagine how his family, girlfriend, and friends would be feeling.
while he wasn’t a good person after the band, everything he said about the experience was saddening to hear, and i’ll admit, younger me wasn’t much of a fan of him IN the band, he was deeply troubled, and clearly struggling. mental health is so important, and i just hope his story will bring more attention and light to mental and physical health issues, as well as the dangers of addiction.
this doesn’t take away from the fact that his actions still should not be condoned at all. they were, one hundred percent, not morally or ethically right, however, he was still a huge part of a lot of our childhoods, and he deserved the help he needed, not his fate.
the entire thing is still very devastating to hear, read about, and come to terms with, especially thinking about the tragic way that he did pass away. i’m sure a lot of us are grieving FOR those closest to him, harry, niall, zayn, louis, his family, and especially his baby boy, and our childhoods. it is truly heartbreaking, and i genuinely hope they find solace in each other as a result. my heart pours out to all of them.
i just wanted to add that it is incredibly disgusting how people are blaming maya, his girlfriend, and even niall, the comments i’ve seen make me sick to my stomach, and everyone who is making jokes about the way he passed should genuinely seek therapy, because joking around and being cruel over something so devastating is truly not normal and deeply disturbing.
two things can coexist. people are nuanced. you can be upset about a piece of your childhood being taken away, and still hold people accountable for their actions. life isn’t always black and white, and it’s okay to be shocked, or feel whatever you’re feeling.
again, i feel so deeply sorry for those closest to liam, and each of the boys’ posts made my heart ache for them even more.
