things i hate: when people put r*pe in their stories just to make it more exciting and treat it as an accessory rather than a whole story line.....and if it's something the victim can just get over in one chapter and then it's like nothing ever happened. um no?? IF YOU PUT SEXUAL ASSAULT IN YOUR STORY YOU HAVE TO PUT A WARNING FROM THE START AND MAKE SURE YOU DO JUSTICE FOR THE REAL VICTIMS OUT THERE AND STOP TREATING IT LIKE A JOKE

@wastethenihgt amateur writers just want to include every problem that young people go through in order to be relatable, therefore they will get more reads. instead they wrongly romanticize it and make young people think that ~boy~ (or any s/o in SOME books) will solve their problems, not that they are independent and strong.

Rant from a desperate reader/writer: How do people not edit their stories? How can they just publish something and be like "oh I haven't edited this so there might be some mistakes" and be totally fine with people reading that?? Editing is the most important thing, so many stories would be much better if the writer would just take some time to edit it. What do you think authors do? Do you think they publish their first draft? Their books aren't perfect from the start either. And it's just so careless and irresponsible. If the language you're writing in isn't your native one, run a spell check, let someone fix the grammar for you, do something, it doesn't mean your stories have to be full of mistakes. I don't get it, don't you want your story be as good as it can be? Don't you want it to live up to your best potential? Why are so many people so lazy with their stories? That gives readers the impression that you don't care and would rather do something else, and it's also not nice to read stuff that's full of mistakes (and I bet it's also not nice for the author). And you can easily fix that! Start promoting editing and writing stories that are worthy of reading and are passionate and detailed and praise the author! There is so much trash on wattpad that is hugely popular and so many amazing stories that only have a small following and there's something seriously wrong with that.

@wastethenihgt nah it's good lol. yea i honestly agree so much. i used to write( a hella long time ago on a different account lmao) and it didn't take much time at all to edit my stories. it was so simple and there are so many options. also, i don't understand how a writer can publish a story but not have it thought out or fully constructed. like, if you are passionate about what you're writing, shouldn't that be easy? fun? a no brainer? i mean, don't get me wrong, i love one shots. but can you even consider it a "story" or a "work" of yours if it doesn't even have a plot? the answer: try or don't do. it's like the saying "sh*t or get off the pot." no one, from here or real life, is expecting or forcing you to write. if you don't feel that it's going well or don't want to put in the effort that it takes to meet the criteria, then simply don't write. be a reader and try again in a few months. or after talking to someone else

@mgc_LukesKindaHotTho i understand that you can't expect everything to be perfect, you're right and you should be thankful you're getting it all for free. so if you like a story, especially if it's very well written and you can see the author putting much effort into it, you should let them know bc no comments = no updates and it's not too much to demand at least one person telling you if they liked it and want you to continue. but that's a different topic... so yeah the minimum for me to expect in a free fanfic are at least no spelling or grammar mistakes and making sure your story is cohesive and understandable for readers. is that too much to ask? idk i just set a high standard for myself so i guess i want other stories be the way i want my stories to be and i just can't understand how other people might not care about those things as much as i do
