            she was right. alex was visibly shaking, and the red under his eyes was more pronounced than usual. he reached a pale hand up to his mouth and stifled a cough. he looked in pain and unwell– a two in one inconvenience– and even his clothes looked battered, liked he'd been in a fight.  
            "i'll be fine. can i sit somewhere quiet for a minute? i need to gather my senses."

            from marines to now , graves practically learned every trick in the book knew when he was being played— perhaps he was playing his own little game .  “ i’m just doing my business .  how’s about you do yours ?  i know better to get involved in things that don’t matter none .  ”  for him it really seemed like a waste of time , and graves had better things to do .

            slowly, he lowered his hands, gaining more confidence that he wouldn't be shot at.  "i wouldn't be so sure about that."  alex didn't mention doing the work himself, but he did want to stick around. absorbing the hunter's biomasses would help enhance his own power. all he needed was them to be weakened.

            of course graves knew that , he wasn’t clueless .  his men did well alongside him , nothing ever really got passed them .  “ appreciate the heads up .  pretty sure i can handle it  ,  unless you plan on doing the work yourself ?  i doubt you will .  ”
