If you're still interested in making black phone books... I was hoping to give you a sort of... Crackfic idea, where it kinda has to go off the rails of the original makes..
I got this idea from a friend who makes AI bots on good 'ol character.ai, and I thought I'd tweek it before pitching it.
The MC? world's biggest ghost nerd. She/he buys the house the boys were buried in, and moves in. That's when she/he interacts with the ghosts, because in this sort of au thing, the bodies were retrieved, BUTTT, the ghosts have not moved on and need help doing so.
AND LUCKY FOR THEM, the mc (being the ghost nerd she/he is) actually buys haunted houses on purpose to help the ghosts move on with her/his ghost-spell-book-thing, which basically just gives her/him powers to do things like help ghosts cross, or make things like idk, food or something, available for ghosts to touch instead of the classic 'ghosts can't touch human world stuff, their hand would just phase through' cartoon trope.
So basically it's just a crackfic of "ghost nerd lives with traumatized ghost children until she/he can conjure enough energy to send them to the other side where they can finally be at peace." Where most the book is just.. fun little shenanigans.
Eh? Eh? Pretty good, no?
(also lmk if this is weird, because I actually pitch fanfic ideas to good authors on here pretty often, but I don't know if that's rude or insulting.)
