Ft. They Came To Baghdad.
I’m planning to submit They Came to Baghdad to both the Wattys and the Ambys next year, but I’m confused. I already sent this book to a couple of other awards back when it was just five chapters and tagged as a WIP, this year. It’s fully completed now, but I’m still waiting for those results. I don’t expect to win. And honestly, at least they actually read it before deciding.
I submitted four books to the Ambys this year. One even reached Round 3, which means real humans sat down and read my work. Respect.
The Wattys? They rejected everything. They prefer typical Wattpad-friendly romance — bad boys, mafia, werewolves, billionaire vampires. My stuff isn’t typical, so I get why they didn’t pick it. They’re not wrong for having a type.
That’s why I’m unsure about sending They Came to Baghdad to the Wattys, next year. It’s romance, yes, but it’s not the kind they usually go for. The Ambys though? They’re fair, they actually read, and they don’t care if your main characters aren’t alphas with glowing eyes.
I used to have this book on multiple platforms — Ajoara and ScrollStack beyond Inkitt and Wattpad — but I took it down from ajoara and ScrollStack. Now this is exclusive to Wattpad and Inkitt, free on both.
Ugh... About They Came To Baghdad ( my version )... Even though I act cynical, I’m still stupidly hopeful. As I want this book to reach the right people. I want it to get the recognition it deserves. And honestly, I’m tired of spoonfeeding links. If someone wants to read it, they can search it themselves. It’s not rocket science.
So yeah — next year, I’m taking another shot at both awards. I’m hopeful. Bitter, but hopeful. And yes, if you still haven’t read this, I’m judging you.
