That is normal for any father and daughter. You think I always got only so easily with my father? Or if Ullr always got along with me, for that matter?* she found herself taking a seat on the edge of the couch, watching the young girl for a while * Parents sometimes seem like they're making your life harder than it needs to be, but you need to remember, they're trying to work things out too.

What the siblings did was their business. Sif wasn't getting involved in that one. Provided Loki wasn't actively trying to kill her brother or whatever the last few attempts may have been, then she had no issues with any of that. But for the first time in a very long time, she watched something shift inside the other goddess. It was almost as if the dark mood had lifted, like something had snapped out of whatever spell had been cast. It reminded her of the old days, before things had become so complicated, though they never should have. It was always supposed to be the three of them against the world, for they had all understood each other better than anyone else. Until Loki had withdrawn into her own little world, hiding behind scowls and a biting tongue. She didn't flinch as the other moved in closer to her, eyes dropping to the hand outstretched before her. She understood, had never needed words to know what was on Loki's mind. It was what had made them a team in the first place, made them nearly unstoppable. Her gaze rose from the hand, back onto the eyes of Loki, and this time, Sif lifted her own hand in answer, grasping Loki's forearm in a firm grip, not all too different from what she had done with her warriors in arms. A handshake was too formal for her taste. This was a gesture that she knew and understand, a gesture that spoke volumes in her world. "That is all I have ever asked," she finally responded.

⠀⠀⠀ “all right, all right.” loki huffs out her response, but there’s the smallest of smiles that tugs at her lips despite her childlike demeanor. perhaps the reason she enjoys it just a little bit is because it reminds loki of their childhood, not the hostility she’s created between the two of them recently. recently isn’t quite the accurate word, but when someone will live as long as they will, it’s relatively rather recently.
⠀⠀⠀ “does this mean that i must not try to stab thor?” the only qualm she has with sif’s requirements is LITERALLY the fact that she can’t stab her own brother. it sounds silly, but thor had always seemed to enjoy it.. a few hundred years after the fact. but even then, they laugh about it, and then the cycle repeats. surely thor would sick loki was dying if she ever stopped trying to stab him, because truthfully, if it were not for this conversation of theirs, loki would ALSO think that she’s dying if she didn’t get the urge to stab her brother on the daily.
⠀⠀⠀ “i agree to your terms, for the most part. i will try my hardest, but i may not always succeed… as we are more than well aware.” she’s one hundred percent referring to her failed attempts to make sif hate her when she speaks of this. she moves, and then she’s stopping before sif. she does not pull her in, she does not welcome her home. instead, she holds out her hand. if she’s going to do this, she’s going to do it right.

"Yes," she replied simply, for even though those words had been whispered, more to Loki herself than to anyone else, her sharp, battle trained ears had picked up on them and she was sure they would have, even if the silence that had been between them hadn't been so deafening. "I always have." For centuries, she had endured the other and their pranks, though as children, they had never been as cruel as they were now. Loki had been kind, though a little devious, but she had never been so heartless, so thoughtless, as she had become when she had grown older. Part of Sif blamed Odin and the rivalry he had placed on both his children, a competition for who could be the best, and while her heart had ached for the other goddess at times, deep down, she knew a lot of it had been Loki's own jealous heart that had caused most of this strife. She had never stopped to realise that not everyone wanted to put Thor first. How many times had Sif put the mischief goddess before everyone? In truth, she had lost count. The question had her pursing her lips for a moment, giving the other a thoughtful look over. The easiest answer would to be not at all, but Sif had never been one for easy way outs. And damn it to Hel, she wasn't about to start now. Not after she had already spent a good majority of her life merely wishing to hear the words Loki now spoke. "With honesty. No lies, no trickery and no pushing people away, especially the people who have always been there for you, no matter what you may have seen. Would that be so challenging for you?"

⠀⠀ daisy needs to shut up, and this is FACT. really, she needs to be sober, but she’s already too far off the wagon for that and there’s no crawling back in for a while yet. but alas, when sif switches the subject, she shifts to tuck her ankle under her knee and places both of her hands on sif’s knees in an inhumanly fast motion. (ha, get it!)
⠀⠀ “i don’t know if they’ll get married, but even if they don’t, they’ll be together and of that i have no doubt. do you know why i think this? it has NOT been one day of them knowing each other. he visits the lighthouse more frequently now, and i’m beginning to think that it is not for me. actually, i’m pretty positive that it isn’t. sometimes, the only way that i know he’s even there is because she comes in with fucking SHELLS. do you know who collects shells? NJORD.” well, hopefully he’s not listening because that’s a breach of privacy for faye and very fucking loud.
⠀⠀ “i cannot escape her talking about it either, because this girl is on my team. i don’t hate her, i actually adore her very much, but that’s not my point. do you know how insane it would be for me to work with the girlfriend of my father-in-law? i mean, even if they don’t get married, she’ll still practically be my mother-in-law, and i feel like that would be complicated because i’m technically her superior officer, so she takes orders from me. do you think that would be complicated? i feel like that would be a little bit complicated. holyfuckineedtobreathe.”

            * she bit her tongue while the girl was rambling about Loki, hard enough to draw blood. she could taste the tangy metal in her mouth, but that was better than the bitter truth. oh, she had tried, for years, to allow Loki to see that she understood them, that she had never tried to change them from what they were. except, every time she did, Loki went and ruined it. Sif had tried so hard, from the moment they were kids, to simply just accept them. and she had. she had been Loki's biggest supporter. till Loki had decided they might as well just cut her throat and be done with it. but she wouldn't make a comment, not on them. why did they deserve any special treatment from the war goddess anymore? she focused on Njord instead, for at least that wouldn't make her seething with rage and hurt and whatever else * Are you sure they're going to get married? That sounds awfully fast to me, even as an Asgardian. I know Njord has rushed into a few weddings before but he has actually known them for a little longer than a day. Actually, he might not even want another wedding after the last few didn't quite work out for him.

⠀⠀ [she takes this moment of silence to inhale properly before she explains further.] that would have been funny, but unfortunately, she tried to shoo him away and then called him a liar—- according to her lovely little stories. i swear, that girl is going to be my mother-in-law soon enough with how much this team gets with the freaking gods of this place. can you imagine that? i’d have a mother-in-law who is two years younger than me!
