bucky had been somewhat of a lone wolf these days, but there were times on occasion when steve insisted the avengers needed his specific skill set for a mission and asked him to tag along. he was about as friendly with the rest of the team as he could allow himself to be, which wasn't over the top, but he wasn't completely miserable, either. he knew it must be awkward, having to associate with him despite knowing what he's done in his past — even if he wasn't in control of it.
he's walking around the avengers base with no intent to where he's going, just needing some time to clear his head. he catches natasha just as he was coming up the stairs and she was about to descend, and he smiles warmly at her.
"hey, natasha. how've you been?" he asks simply, hoping he isn't coming off awkwardly. he rests his back against the railing of the stairs, metal arm holding his weight up.

'he' being the winter soldier , not bucky , but natasha was still wary . she trusted steve's judgement though , that man && his bleeding heart . she straightened up as she met him down to the base of the stairs , still suited up as there was work to still be done . she crossed her arms about her chest , cocking a hip with something of a bemused expression . ❝ I'VE BEEN FINE .
