If you have ever read Shakespeare's play Hamlet and wondered what the young Danish prince may have had for a birthday cake (and the answer to that question is almost definitely NO), then may I present the kagemand/kagekone.
It's a cake made in the shape of a boy (kagemand) or girl (kagekone). When cuttung the cake, the parent must first cut off the head. While they are doing so, all of the children are instructed to scream.
THIS IS WHY HAMLET WAS THE WAY THAT HE WAS. Not the fratricide or the breakup or even the threat of invasion- it was the kagemand.
