S.J. Bass (1979- ) was born in Long Island, New York to an Irish and Native American mother and a second generation Jewish Ukrainian father, grew up in Texas and California, and traveled the world as an adult, spending time in over fourteen countries, many of them in Asia. He received a B.S. at the University of Oregon in 2018, majoring in journalism while minoring in creative writing. He raced motorcycles along the west coast of America, winning 3rd in 600cc super-sport as an amateur, fought in mixed martial arts tournaments and breakdanced all over California. After many years of reading hundreds of books throughout his young life, he found his love for writing stories in 2008 when he hitchhiked aboard multiple sailboats for five months along the south Pacific ocean and throughout the Caribbean.
