Last night, eight terrorists executed six coordinated attacks in separate locations across Paris, France. More than 120 people were killed, and dozens more were injured.
Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It was the first city I’ve ever fallen in love with, and I’ve been back several times since. Each time I was there, I was only ever treated with kindness, and the Parisian culture, filled with string quartets and street musicians, lively street cafes and candlelit dinners, and pride in themselves and in their city, is something out of a dream. It breaks my heart that someone can attack so many people with such hate.
I just hope that the world, all of us, can look past our differences- our nationalities, our languages, our beliefs, our religions- and love each other as humans. We have so many more similarities than differences. Together we can stand strong against the violence and the hate, the cruelty and the fear, and we can spread peace and love.
We can’t allow ourselves to forget what happened yesterday. We can’t forget any of the terrorist or the hate crimes in our history. We have to move forward as one. And that starts with support- kind words, empathy, and an open heart to whomever we come across. We each have the capacity to love in us, and I truly hope that our love will be so much stronger than any hate.
