           Backstory: Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, Candelaria moved to Texas as a child, discovering herself through cooking, music, and motorcycles. When her parents were forced back to Colombia, she ran, surviving years as a nomad. She later settled in Rio, working as a mechanic by day and earning a teaching degree by night. Arriving in Riverdale, she sought refuge and purpose, earning respect on the Southside and bringing real stories of culture and survival to her history classroom.
