          	~SPOILERS~

After the death of his wife, Nagisa, Tomoya leaves his child, Ushio with her grandparents. Leading his own separate life, Tomoya can't stand the grief of losing Nagisa, which would seem to haunt him. Eventually, Tomoya returns and meets Ushio by chance, who happens to be the splitting image of Nagisa. Soon enough, Tomoya does receive a strong bond with Ushio, and decides to take responsibility of her. However, soon Ushio is diagnosed with the same illness that killed her mother, and Tomoya is left to grieve once again over his daughter, who is becoming weaker throughout the days. On a visit to her grandparent's house once again, Ushio collapses and ends to be in very poor health, to which Tomoya cannot save her from. Nonetheless, after all the time spent together, Ushio dies. It is theorized that Ushio is the character known as 'Girl' in the Clannad series, and grants one of Tomoya's most wanted wishes, which is to have Nagisa and Ushio both by his side. Ushio grants this wish for her father, and Tomoya wakes up in the current time period where Nagisa survived having Ushio, and the story ends there on a happy note.
