I feel like I've been doing this same speech several times before, but I guess some of you don't hear me, so imma repeat myself until everyone gets it in their heads.
Stop with the fucking entitlement!
Stop pressuring people to do something because you feel entitled to what they produce. With Harry, it's about him releasing music, with my writer friends it's their updating.
You are not entitled to anything they write, to regular updates, to anything. You have no right to pressure them when they've been making you wait. Wouldn't you rather be treated to a work of art that has been refined, carefully crafted and expertly polished than a piece that has been rushed, carelessly posted just for the sake of not making anyone wait? A cook needs to never be rushed. I'd rather wait an hour for the perfect burger than sent away with a McDonald's soggy mess. I'd rather wait a year for an amazing chapter than read something that the author's heart wasn't in.
I know some of you don't mean any harm when they tell a writer to, "please update, can't wait!", but you need to think about what that does. The writer has just put a lot of effort, time, emotions, pain, light, darkness etc. into their most recent chapter. That requires dedication, mental insight, time. It's a taxing job.
What I'm trying to say is, never forget that there's a person behind it. There's emotion and dedication and a lot of love behind it. There is a human behind it. Telling a windows update to hurry along is fine, telling a person to hurry along their creativity is not. So, sit yo asses down and be grateful for what they give. Shower them in love. Be vocal with your love. And quit with the entitlement, because their craft doesn't rely on you, it relies on THEM.
To all my writer/artist friends: I can't wait for the next amazing piece you put out. Except, I CAN and will wait, and I am beyond grateful to every single one of you. Love you! ❤️
