because of all the recent updates to the game, i just came across a bg3 short, and it was a scene i had forgotten about where karlach looks at you directly and breaks the 4th wall by: asking for YOUR name (nevertheless the character you're playing), asking if you already know of each other's destiny (if you're playing a good or bad playthrough - if you've planned anything at all) and that it seems you've already done all of this before, describing how long she's been stuck here for "these hundred hours... or less, or more" (in the game, within multiple save files), and then telling you that there's only one thing that she cares about - whether if you were having fun or not... and when you affirm that you have, karlach (posing as the developers, coders, artists, actors, and the rest of the team) thanks the gods beautifully in her fashion, with loud cheering and a fist bump to the air.
with that said, how sick would it be for //SOMEONE// (not me pls) to make a modern!fic where the reader is playing the game for the umpteenth time, wanting to see every dialogue option available in the game, and the reader finally triggers this cutscene where karlach confronts the reader with 4th wall-breaking questions, then actually BREAKS the wall by coming through their computer screen (maybe with an accidental kiss? perhaps??) and the reader has to somehow live with & stow away a 6"ft+ tierfling in the pre-shared apartment. in my head, the reader is either very loyal to romancing karlach, OR, opposingly, had never romanced karlach in a playthrough and her sentient character is somewhat jealous of the other character(s). BUT, whichever way it goes, karlach's dialogue had changed very slightly with each game, growing more-and-more intrigued > friendly > flirtatious towards them, until one particular save file and... yeah.
