Francesca's allure is the best read I've had for a while. Zainab manages to both encapsulate the deep emotions of these in depth characters with succinct satisfaction for all readers whilst also cultivating an atmosphere of tension that entices its audience. Francesca's internal struggle at accepting her feelings is so very eloquently displayed, readers feel as though they too are faced with the abject pain of this moral quandary. Ellena's desire and infatuation with francesca rivals some of the Last displayed by renowned classics like Pride and Prejudice's Elizabeth and Darcy obsession. Reading this story has transported me to an era of oppression where women are not only facing the approval of men but simultaneously being pitted against eachother cause some women (lottie) to go completely fucking insane. The depiction of lottie's struggles with mental illness hinted at schizophrenia when referencing the descriptive language around shadows, that has become a motif of its own in this work, a reader may try to sympathise with lottie but to no prevail as her sinful nature enrages all. I can't wait to hear more from this up and coming author.
