My answer to your heavy-hearted
Eli, my dear,
I've read your poem through.
Your words cut near,
Because I know them to be true.
These absolutes you fear
Are not your soul's true voice.
They whisper lies so clear,
As if you had no choice.
Will you ever win?
Will you need that rope?
Eli, my dear,
Can't you see there's hope?
The weight will lift in time;
The darkest night will fade.
The glimmer that we seek
Is found in hands that stay.
I crave what you crave
A spark to guide us through.
That glimmer is our strength,
That hope belongs to you.
Eli, my dear,
You're never left alone.
Though shadows crowd your mind,
Your heart is still your own.
