"i didn't think i was suicidal before but the walls are closing in so fast."
a couple of hours ago, famous youtuber etika (also known as desmond amofah) was found. he went missing last week after an apparent suicide note video, and a body was pulled from the manhattan river yesterday, only to be identified today. his identification was located on a bridge not too far away.
he had committed suicide. for awhile now, he's mentioned his issues occasionally but we never seemed to care. a month or so ago the NYPD had checked in on him because of his concerning Twitter posts, but seemingly didn't find anything wrong, so we thought nothing of it. in fact, the majority of his fans thought it was all a joke on his IG livestream.
etika was my favourite youtuber and most likely will continue to be so in the years to come. i had started watching his channel a little over a year ago and in my darkest hours, his content made my day a little brighter. i always looked forward to his next post or livestream. he was probably one of the best people i ever had the chance to come across. he really cared about his passions and his joycon bois — but in the end, we couldn't do a thing to help him. i'm sorry, etika, and wherever you are now, i wish you the best. thank you for everything.
suicide is terrible. the threat of it is not a joke, and if you're having suicidal tendencies or even the constant thought of ending it all, please PLEASE seek help. i know it's an overgrown and thorny path and the tunnel doesn't have an end in sight, but please.
