"Oh great! Weeping angels and Vashta Nerada!" the Doctor complained.
"What do we do?" I asked.
"Don't blink. Don't move. I'll be back."
"Ok. I've got this. I'll keep my eyes open, tell you to open yours, then I'll shut mine. You do the same. Got it Lily?"
"Got it." Lily replied.
After five minutes - although it seemed like forever - the Doctor shouted.
"I'm back! Now, walk apart from each other slowly and keep your eyes on the angel."
We kept our sight on the angel and backed away as the Doctor approached with a mirror.
"Can we blink now?" Lily said.
"Yes. It is safe to blink now. The weeping angel isn't crying. If it were to uncover its eyes it would see itself. If any living organism sees it, including itself, it turns to stone. Because of the mirror it is now permanently turned to stone." said the Doctor.
Then I thought of something. "If it's stone, what makes it so dangerous?"
The Doctor replied, "It moves faster than light. Pretend it's twenty feet away you and you blink, then BAM! It's right in front of you. And well, if it touches you..."
"What's so bad about it touching you?" Lily said since my mind was to full of thoughts to ask.
"The angel sends you back in time to a point in time where you would die shortly after."
"Huh?"
"Ok. For example," the Doctor began, "Say the angel touches you on July 19, 2002 at 11:39 am. It sends you to June 5, 1927. You then life a long happy life and die on July 19, 2002 at 11:41 am. Your timeline from 2003 on then becomes food for the angel."
"Ok." I said now understanding what he meant, yet not even realizing that he was standing on the other side of the TARDIS. "So, what do we do now?" I asked.
"Now we stop them."
"And how are we supposed to do that?" Lily asked with a hint of suprise in her voice.
"I have a plan..."
