It was that time of the year again and everybody was busy getting ready for the holidays. The Hart household was filled with laughter and Christmas music, the tree was decorated, the stockings hung, presents wrapped. Henry had taken the twins to the mall for some last minute Christmas shopping.
Christmas has always been Charlotte's favorite time of the year but now it was extra special because it was the day their two little angels were born. The twins will be turning six in a few days, their birthday being on the 25th of December.
As for the twins, Leo was very protective of his twin sister, even as toddlers whenever she cried he would comfort her. Charlotte thought back to when the twins were two years old, sitting in their highchairs. Lizzy dropped the cookie she was eating and when she started crying, Leo handed her his cookie. They were good kids but at times could be a pair of devils, neither one would rat the other one out.
After cleaning the house for the second time and making sure everything was spotless, Charlotte walked into the kitchen and brought out all the ingredients she needed to bake the cookies. She wanted this Christmas to be nothing less than perfect since it's their first time hosting the holidays and Henry's family are flying in from Swellview, and she very much wanted to impress her mother-in-law.
A smile crossed her face as soon as she heard the front door open. "Mommy, we're home!" Lizzy's sing-song voice floated through the house.
"I'm in the kitchen, sweetheart!" Charlotte shouted back.
Moments later, Lizzy and Leo ran into the kitchen, followed by her handsome husband. Even after being married for nearly six years, Charlotte couldn't help feeling giddy whenever she was near him. The twins were excited about the gifts they had bought her, telling her not to peek as they ran off to wrap them.
Charlotte turned to her husband, who was flashing her a wide smile. "I hope you didn't go overboard again this year"
"Come on babygirl, it's Christmas time and you know how much I love spoiling you and our kids" he said, walking over to his wife and took her in his arms, planting a soft kiss on her lips. "By the way you're looking gorgeous, Mrs. Hart" he whispered, his lips brushing lightly across hers causing her heartbeat to quicken.
"And you, my love are looking handsome as always" Charlotte wrapped her arms around his neck, connecting her lips to his. Just as the kissed was getting more heated, the twins came running into the kitchen causing Charlotte to pull away and turn to her children. "Wanna help mommy bake the Christmas cookies?" She asked earning an excited squeal from her children.
For the next few hours, Charlotte, Henry and their twins baked the Christmas cookies. Lizzy helped her mother prepare the batter for gingerbread cookies while Henry showed his son how to use the cookie cutters to make different shapes.
