Hushed giggles and time to time whispering to each other. Yongsun and Byul are one of those couples where they can make you feel you're third wheeling whenever you're with them. Not that they are any different from the others.
It was never a problem with Hyejin though. Seeing them get lost at each other's presence makes her happy, genuinely. Seeing Moonbyul happy and contented. At least her effort paid off. That is what makes this all worth it.
If that means for her to sacrifice what she could have by now, Hyejin gladly did it. But sometimes, seeing their sweetness, made her wonder at times, what if she held on? Would Moonbyul accept her or push her away? Would they still be together now?
She sighed, it's not a good time to think about these endless possibilities.
"So, am I still needed here?" Hyejin asked, "Seems like you guys called me to be an audience of your public affection."
Moonbyul laughs, making her smile.
At least I can still make you laugh. That's enough.
"You're always needed Hyejin, especially by me." Moonbyul winked at her, earning a slap on the shoulder from Yongsun and a nervous laughter from Hyejin
Fucking hell. Be still heart.
It was a fine afternoon when the four of them gathered at Yongsun's house, equally busy since they planned to have a small party, celebrating Wheein's promotion at her job.
After finishing her task, Hyejin went to the kitchen to fetch herself a glass of water. She didn't notice the couple flirting—Moonbyul and Solar—while cooking some tteokbokki.
Turning around, catching a sight in front of her, something she didn't want to see most of the time.
The couple kissing.
She tightened her grip on the glass she's holding and bolted out of the room to head outside garden, where Wheein is busy preparing some meat to be cooked later.
She inhaled and exhaled.
"You saw them?" Wheein questioned, in which she nodded, "And there would be endless of scenarios where you could see them in that state again Hyejin. I know it hurts but you have to try and accept this is the reality now. Your reality. You chose this, Hyej."
Hyejin sighed, downing the rest of the liquid from the glass she's holding. Hearing those words, she's starting to think if she really did the right choice.
To ignore her feelings to let them both act on their own—Moonbyul and Yongsun. She knows that they have feelings for each other the moment they met (mutual understanding in other words) so to avoid getting cheated on or being left alone by someone who fell out of love (when Moonbyul started to get cold with their relationship) she admits her defeat.
Public affection never affected Hyejin most of the time. Not from strangers anyway. But when it comes to the couple she's with right now, she admits it does hurt a bit.
"Please stop, I'm about to gag." She jokingly breaks the atmosphere, "Can't you see I'm single?"
Yongsun shyly smiled at her, embarrassed by her remark while Moonbyul teasingly glanced at her.
"Well, I can't help it if I'm inlove with my girlfriend Hyejin. She's beautiful, caring, sexy and the list goes on and on. So excuse me if I want to cherish every moment with her." Moonbyul giggles, triumphantly shifting her attention back to Yongsun, who blushed from the amount of compliments she received.
That was not the case for Hyejin though. She is clearly aware that Moonbyul is one hundred percent jokingly messing with her but the words that came out from Moonbyul, hearing them made her heart ache.
The last time she heard it was when they were still together and listening to those all over again, this time not for her, she can feel tears in her eyes.
She looked away as she let herself cry.
