"Mom!! I'm ready, let's go!!"
Izuku yelled.
"Alright!!!"
The mother and son exited the house and began walking. As they walked, they started talking.
"So Izuki tell me about your classmates!! I don't hear much about them! Do you have good friends?"
Izuku grinned and nodded. "There's Iida Kun! he's really cool and he's the class rep! Then there's Uraraka San she's super bubbly and she has an amazing quirk! Then there's Todoroki-kun..."
For the next 10 minutes, Izuku continued talking about how cool Todoroki was, and how awesome his quirk was, and his ability to remain calm in all situations, and more.
His mother listened intently, looking at her son's lit up face while he talked. Something inside her felt happy. Her baby boy was gonna be ok. She was so proud of him, he had come so far. Seeing him so happy made her feel relieved
She laughed. "You and Todoroki-kun seem like amazing friends~!"
At the word 'friends' something in Izuku shattered. Just...friends... It hurt to say it...but why?
He forced a smile. "Yeah...friends"
They were about to cross the street when Inko let out a small gasp of excitement. "Look Izuku! Isn't that the Number 1. hero Endeavor ?! Do you want an autograph?" She said. Izuku jerked his head in the direction his mother was looking at. It was true, it really was him. Endeavor, in the flesh. He was surrounded by TV crews and fans. "Nah I don't" he smiled at his mom. She was confused but shrugged. They started crossing the street, when suddenly, out of nowhere, a car was speeding towards Inko, and then-
"MOM LOOK OUT!-"
*CRASH*
Izuku opened his eyes to see the unconscious figure of his mom laying there.
He ran forward, tears welling up in his eyes.
"NO NO NO NO NO!" The boy screamed. He crouched down next to his mom, looking for a pulse. He found one. But his mother still wasn't waking up. He looked behind him. A crowd of shocked bystanders were standing there. He screamed at them, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! CALL AN AMBULANCE FOR GOD'S SAKE!!" Unaware of the fumbling in the crowd, he turned back to his unconscious mother. Everything had happened so fast, one minute they were laughing and the next this happened.
He felt heat from above him. He looked up, to see Endeavor standing there, his flames reaching down to Izuku. Suddenly Izuku felt an overwhelming rage boil inside of him.
He stood up in a blaze of anger. Endeavor looked alarmed. "You...YOU COULD HAVE STOPPED THAT FROM HAPPENING! ITS YOUR JOB!"
The red-headed man looked dumbfounded. Izuku raged on
"ITS YOUR DUTY TO PROTECT CIVILIANS. NOT TO STAND IN FRONT OF REPORTERS. YOU WERE SO CLOSE, YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO SAVE HER!" the teenager screamed. Tears of rage were streaming down his cheeks. Endeavor opened his mouth to say something but Izuku cut him off. "Save it. Just know.... you'll never be Number 1 hero"
The ambulance arrived. The paramedics carried Inko in, and Izuku followed, leaving behind the crowd in a stunned silence
