"I do not want to be here! I'm here against my will!" The others didn't even look at me but dragged me further in. We were at the party and I was making my opinion loudly known.

"Oh my God, Scar, don't be a party pooper. Tell me when was the last time you had some fun huh? You can't even remember I bet," Venita said. She had just finished greeting the host and was getting miffed at my behaviour.

I frowned darkly and I scowled even more fiercely because Mary was right. I had been so caught up with working, I had completely forgotten what it was to just let loose and unwind.

When I had stepped foot into the nightclub, all the memories had come rushing back. And I'd remembered. What it was like to not have a care in the world. To have fun. I'd been reminded of my teen years before Damon had barged into my life and destroyed it.

The feeling was way different from what I'd felt when I went to the bar to pick up Tom. There was this weird clamping in my throat and churning in my stomach. Maybe it was because this time my friends expected me to have fun. Fun. That was almost a foreign word to me. Wow, could my life get anymore depressing?

I'd protested and yelled and screamed all the way to Venita's house to choose clothes to wear and also when coming here. I could just imagine what that could have been for them. I cringed thinking about it now. I didn't want to be a party pooper or a Debby Downer. And I wanted to have fun. And I was going to. Starting from now, I was not letting Tom or Marco or whoever get in the way of my having fun. Now, first things first, get drunk.

I spun on my five inches death trap heels and pointed at the bar. "Fine then. But the first round is on me though."

"Yes! This is why I love you!" Mary yelled, hugging me.

"Go girl, spend your money on us."

"I can't believe this is happening!" Rose exclaimed as the barman gave us shots each. But she didn't say that like she was regretting it, in fact it sounded like she couldn't wait to get roaring drunk.

"Yessss! That's the spirit. Ooh see those moves. Guys, let's go to the dance floor let's show them how to really dance!" Venita shouted into my ear, so I could hear her despite the loud electronic music coming from the JBL speakers.

I quickly covered my ears with my hands but quickly set it down on the counter when the ground around my stool jerked roughly. "What the hell Ven? Do you want to get me deaf? And why for heaven's sake is the room spinning?"

Rose giggled from beside me. "The room isn't spinning silly. You've just had one too many shots."

Hmm, that must explain why I suddenly felt so woozy. I blinked my eyes a couple of times to try and get my bearings. Though it was a costume party, we hadn't dressed as anything, kind of because the information had come last minute and because I was just not interested. Except Venita who dressed as 'a sexy little kitten,' her words of course. The black dress I wore clung tightly to my skin and I resisted the urge to take it off. Wait, why couldn't I? After all, it was a free country. I could do whatever I want.

I was warming up to the idea when I noticed something. "Hey, where's Mary?"

Venita dragged I and Rose of our stool. "She's probably at the buffet. Come on, let's go dance."

When we reached the dancefloor, Venita and Rose started dancing immediately but I just stood there awkwardly, watching other people dance. Suddenly, self awareness returned and I wanted to go back to my room and hide under the covers. Then I remembered my promise to myself. To have fun. And that I will.

Instantly, I could feel the bass from the speakers vibrating from the floor into my body and it felt good. I remembered this feeling from my wild days. It started with me tapping my feet to the song- I think it was by a guy named Marshmello- and before long I was going crazy on the dance floor.
