(Y/N) POV
Everything hurt. You could feel every small part of your body screaming out in pain. There was a high pitched ringing in your ears and everything was black. Were your eyes closed? You tried to open them but were met with a blinding light and your eyes squeezed shut. You paused for a moment trying to remember what had happened, but to no avail. A shiver ran down your spine as you realized that you couldn't remember anything except for a single word; (Y/N).
It sounded like a name. Was it your name? it felt right, but you couldn't be sure. As you were thinking of the meaning of this single word, you began to be able to hear past the ringing. You could make out some very muffled voices. Starting to get nervous, you tried to push yourself up, letting out a groan as your body protested the movement. You tried to open your eyes again. The light wasn't as blinding as before, but it was still difficult to get them open. When you finally made it to your hands and knees, you got them open and looked in front of you.
Inches from you was a pink face with two wide open black eyes, each with a bright yellow iris. You lurched back in surprise and let out a small yelp. You were now sitting upright with your hands keeping you from falling back. Now you could see that the face belonged to a pink-skinned and pink-haired teen girl with two horns. She had scrambled back and was leaning on a white pillar. She looked scared. Were you just on top of her? How did you get here?
After staring at her for a brief moment catching your breath, you felt something brush your left shoulder. You jerked your head to look and were met with a huge bright red wing that appeared attached to your back. It was curved out beside you as if acting as a shield. Curious, you willed it to move and it responded, slowly moving back behind you and revealing several other teens all staring at you.
You yelped once again and desperately scrambled away from them, only to run into your other wing and fall over on your back. You quickly shot back up, leaning back on your right arm while you brought your left arm to a defensive position. Both of your wings followed the lead of your left arm, and they started to glow.
The pink girl stood up and ran next to a slightly shorter purple-haired girl. The group of teens all looked at you warily, and you returned the gaze. A few of them were in fighting stances, while a few others looked like they'd rather run away.
"Who are you?" demanded a blue-haired boy as he gestured in an almost robotic way.
"(Y/N)," you said quickly, not even considering your previous doubt of what that word truly meant.
"What are you doing here?" asked a boy with half-white and half-red hair. His voice was calm and fairly monotone, but the look in his eyes gave you chills.
"I-I don't..." you trailed off, looking down at the ground. What were you doing here? Why couldn't you remember anything?
"Are you with the league?" Your eyes shot up to see a green-haired boy staring at you intently. What was 'the league' and why did it sound familiar?
"I've contacted the teachers. They'll be here soon," the blue-haired boy reported to the other teens, putting his phone in his pocket. So this was a school?
"What do we do until they get here?" asked a red-haired boy. His eyes never left you.
"We have permission to subdue," replied the blue-haired, his eyes narrowing.
Without a word, a black-haired boy put up his arms and two streams of some white flat substance came shooting out of his elbows. You screamed as you tried to block the attack, almost falling on your back again. Tears were rolling down your face as something stuck to either wing. You felt a warmth start to spread throughout your body. The warmth quickly grew to burning hot as flames sprouted from every inch of your body.
The initial blast sent the air blowing out in all directions and evaporated your tears, but after only a second the flames across your body didn't reach out more than an inch. You looked down at your hands in confusion. The flames and the heat were not bothering you. It actually felt somewhat comfortable. You tried to will the flames to go away, desperately trying to keep them from spreading. However, the flames continued to smolder. You looked up to beg for help, but you were surprised to see the pink girl rush in between you and the other teens, stretching out her arms to shield you.
"Wait!" she pleaded, "She's scared! I don't think she knows how she got here!"
You were shocked by her words. First she was scared of you, but now she's trying to help? You felt more tears form, but they evaporated as soon as they did.
The pink girl turned to you. "Hey, it's okay. You're (Y/N) right? I'm Mina Ashido! We're hero course students at UA! We can help you!" she said with a huge grin.
You froze for a few seconds before replying. "W-Where am I-I? H-How did-d I g-get here?" you stammered out, hugging your knees to your chest as you folded your wings onto your back.
Mina's smile faltered slightly, her face looking more concerned. "You're in class 1-A's dorm. There was this weird blue light then you landed on top of me," she said, letting out a small laugh at that last bit. She tilted her head slightly before continuing, "Where were you before this?"
You looked down in embarrassment. "I-I don't remember," you said softly.
"That's okay," you heard Mina say. You looked up to see her now crouching in front of you, her smile now more reassuring, "You think you can stop... umm... being on fire?"
"I don't know how," you said helplessly, your steam-tears coming out much faster, "I can't remember anything. I'm not even sure if (Y/N) is even my name."
Her smile almost vanished as her eyes widened. "(Y/N) is the only thing you remember?" she said quietly.
You nodded and put your head on your knees, hugging your legs tighter. You knew something really bad must have happened, but you had no clue what.
"I may be able to help," came the monotone voice of the two-toned boy. You looked up to see that he had stepped up next to Mina. The look in his eyes had changed. They appeared much softer than before. He crouched in front of you, reaching out his hand. "Please try to stay calm."
You nodded in understanding as he lowered his hand to the floor in front of you. You watched as the floor began to form frost near his hand and begin to spread towards you. When it reached you, it began to spread up throughout your body. It didn't feel cold like you expected. It actually felt really nice. You felt yourself relax as the flames on your body died down until they were gone.
You let out a small breath of relief. "Thank you," you told him as he and Mina both stood up.
He simply nodded in response as Mina offered her hand. "Let's get you up," she said with her smile.
You forced a small smile in response as you took it and stood up. You were much taller than Mina and a fair amount taller than the boy. They both looked up at you looking a little surprised.
"You're a lot taller than you look," Mina said with a more nervous smile.
You chuckled slightly but were cut off by a door swinging open as a man with black hair and black clothes ran into the room brandishing what looked like a grey scarf. He looked vaguely familiar, much like how 'the league' sounded familiar. He quickly took an offensive stance as he assessed the situation. His eyes widened as they met yours.
"(Y/N)?"
