Charlotte Potter had always known that in some sense, she was extraordinary. She had known since she was little and she made a toy hover across the room and into her hands so that her cousin couldn't get it but it was something not to be talked about.
You see, her being 'special' as her uncle put it, was something that should be kept secret. As far as anyone knew, Charlotte Jane Potter was an ordinary girl who went to a normal school with her normal cousin, lived on a normal road and caused no mischief whatsoever.
But when an owl shows up on her eleventh birthday, telling her all about another world that Charlotte never knew existed, she thinks that she has finally found her place. Now, she just needed to work out how not to be killed by a raving lunatic, and avoid getting detention and she'd be sorted.
