Again, I let my eyes wander across the car window, trying to find something that would keep their attention as the wheels of the car move swiftly over the ground. The tall buildings soon leave my sight and only small village houses and tall grass fill the empty view. My sister sits beside me, admiring the unknown places that appear as dad drives in the front seat. It feels different to be surrounded with meaningful nature instead of careless skyscrapers and loud crowds of people.
One hour passes in nothing but driving and small talks between my family while I stared into the endless space the whole time. With one fast motion, the car stops with me noticing a spacious house on a small hill in front of us. Surrounded with a thin forest and tidy grass, it lays in the middle of the hill as if watching me from afar. I slowly get out, not separating my gaze from the house.
"So, this is our new home, hope you like it. "- Dad says as I make a step forward. My legs lead me across the grass to the porch beside white chairs and small coffee table and as a last resort, the entrance. I reach for the handle and open the door.
The house seemed wonderful from exterior but interior is simply magnificent. My eyes are pleased by the furniture and perfectly chosen colors for the tall walls but the feeling inside never changes. Still, those bright colors can't paint my soul, my heart, hidden in shadow.
I climb the stairs that lead to the second floor, just to find a room with a wide window overlooking the forest. It's the smallest room but with the biggest amount of energy and positivity. I don't know why but it just seems right to be here, far away from the city. I make my way back to the ground floor, leaving the house to my family to explore.
As I step outside, the breeze blows, bringing the salty smell to my nose and I look up in interest. The sun is already setting and the orange color flies along the field. Curiosity is the first feeling that prevails with me today. I head across the greenery with wide steps and after the wind blows a few more minutes, I find myself in front of the forest and high trees watching from above. My feet make a step with eager to guide me among the sharp leaves.
I continue watching the nature above, below and around me as if it's the most mesmerizing thing I have ever seen. The shadows of trees and the reflection of sun follow my steps leisurely like dancing across a podium and the stray leaves applauding as audience from the distance. Every step feels like it lasts an hour or more but the strange feeling inside tells me that it's worth it, that all this walking will pay off.
I reach the ending of the forest and there are only few steps left until I can see what is hiding at the very end.
My eyes are blurred by the orange light and few seconds pass in expectation but as the light fades, the view is worth waiting for.
