Light seeped into his vision as his eyes flutter open. It blinded him momentarily before his vision settled after a few seconds into a less-blurry mess than before. The distinct smell of disinfectant reached his nose, he scanned the room. It was a typical hospital room with white high ceilings and tiles, a small bedside table on his right with a pitcher of water, an empty vase, and several other small things he couldn't make out as well. To his left, was an IV hooked into his arm and a heartbeat monitor. The curtains parted to reveal a setting sun. It was around 4-5 pm, MiraI concluded.

He groaned, his throat itching and his chapped lips rubbing together. He slowly sat up. The blanket fell, revealing his hospital gown and bandages. They ended at his wrist and went up to his shoulders. Surely he wasn't hurt that bad, Mirai thought, as he traced the bandages wrapped around his wrist. Hesitantly, he flicked his wrist and immediately pain shot up his arm. Well that was a stupid move. He threw the blanket over and the sight of his bandaged wrapped feet greeted him. His mouth tugged into a frown. How was he hurt this badly?

The door suddenly creaked open and the sound of footsteps followed. Immediately, his head snapped to the culprit, his shoulders tense, and his eyes sharp with menace. But it was not someone to be wary of at all for standing at the door way was Chiyo Shuzenji- Recovery Girl. Her short form leaned on her giant syringe/ cane, her signature smile on her face.

" I'm glad you're awake now dear," Chiyo greeted, " How are you feeling dearest?"

" I-I'm...feeling a lot.....a lot better," croaked Mirai, his throat felt dry.

Quietly, Recovery Girl made her way to the side table and poured him a glass of water. " You've been out for 4 days. I thought it would take you a lot longer to wake up since your energy was drained to the point of nothing. Your lungs took a lot of damage too- pierced by your ribs, but it's all patched up and fix now."

She handed him the glass to which he took with both hands and gulped it down in a flash. The cool water ran down his throat and he bowed in thanks. She refilled his cup and went about fetching herself a seat on the chair at the foot of his bed. " You'll need to stay at the hospital for a week to rest. Your body is still tender and you should not be straining it so much."

" Recovery Girl, if I may," Mirai wiped his mouth with his hand and lowered his glass, his thirst quenched.

     The old woman hummed.

" How- how is the child?" he asked. Worry swirled in his eyes and his grip on the glass tightened. His breath hitched as he waited for an affirmative answer. There was a high chance she was alright, but nevertheless, he was worried for her health and her safety.

There was a hidden meaning behind those words. Her health was important and he knew that, but the looming threat of them finding out about her presence was more dangerous. Breaking into the God Tree's territory was already hard enough to hide from the Hero Commission as it is. The only reason they had made it this far was due to a deal made with the Japanese Intelligence Agency, which the deal itself was a risky decision itself as the leader was a sly and cunning man.
