Liana!
LIANA!
My eyes snapped open as I groggily looked around. Half asleep and disoriented, I rolled on my stomach and looked down at the soft moss I was laying on. With each second my mind became more and more clear as my red claws started gripping the moss until a good chunk was ripped off. Gritting my teeth, I could hear a low growl emerging from my throat.
I could remember everything. Every single detail until my death. Liana, mixed combat soldier under General Roya's command, part of the special combat squad sent to the most extreme missions. The most difficult, but most rewarding position there is in the Galactic Empire. About my little genius sister that hated, but not really hated me for choosing to become a soldier soon after we lost our parents to corrupted ones. Katlyn, Darek, Red and General Roya. They were like family to me and now, I lost everything.
Because these Arians mutated me into one of them.
Calm down, act rationally.
I breathed in deeply, letting the moss in my clawed hands fall and stood up on the moss. It was time to have a talk with the twins.
A serious talk.
Climbing over the bowl's walls was a lot easier than before, my new body getting more and more accustomed to the new featured I had. That only made me more furious as my speed increased and I entered the main chamber of the mother tree. I slowly scanned the area, watching as every single Arian that I passed bowed to me and didn't move. It wasn't the usual playful greeting bow, they went completely flat to the ground, not making a sound and trying to look as small as possible.
They were afraid.
They have a good reason to be. It was already difficult to keep my animalistic anger in that was increasing with every single Arian that entered and flopped down on the ground instantaneously.
„Mother..." a hesitant voice reached my ear. A voice that I was searching for. My eyes quickly found the black and blue Arian standing not far away from me. His black and silver twin stood beside him, yet the older brother quickly shielded him with his own body when my eye fell upon him.
„You.... give me one good reason why I shouldn't rip your throat out" I snarled as my body began shaking from the pent-up fury that I felt for everyone in the room. By this time, entire room was filled with coloured Arians, all flat on the ground. Even the all strong and mighty twins slowly lowered themselves on the ground, realising that I was beyond angry.
„Please, hear our story and then the judgement is yours" The elder twin answered, and I sneered at him. I didn't want to listen to his excuses with my whole body, but I knew I had to. In order to make the right decision, I had to have information from all parties.
„Everyone's in this room life depend on it, so it's better be a good one" I answered him, noticing that quite a few shivered in fear.
The blue twin took a few seconds to prepare for the story he wanted me to hear, and then began speaking:
„When our previous Mother was born, she had a twin. The twin was older only by few seconds, but by our natural law, she was to claim the leadership. For that to happen, she had to kill her little sister as only one can have the spot. Otherwise, the special bond that is shared between twins and the bond between the Mother and the Mother tree would overwhelm them and both would go insane. Despite that, the living twin would forever feel the emptiness inside them as the bond is ripped apart and not many survive such strain on their minds. The elder sister, unfortunately, adored her little sister because of this bond and didn't kill her. Didn't kill her on time, because the little sister used the affection and murdered the elder twin instead, claiming the Mother's position. Usually, the younger twins don't have will to go against the elder twin a sis our nature, but something was wrong with our previous Mother's mind, and it didn't help that now she had to deal with the emptiness of her ripped twin bond. It didn't take long before her twisted mind snapped, and she became tyrannical leader that was completely insane. She heard things that wasn't spoken, saw things that weren't there and believed in things no one had any idea about. And she started murdering everyone that she believed was against her while, in reality, we were supporting her like our kind is willed to do by nature of this planet. Before long, all our elders and young ones that weren't hers were gone, the ones she deemed weak were gone – half of our species were killed in less than one season. Then, the tipping point came. She forced the strongest warriors to mate with her, several at the time, despite our nature telling Mothers to have one mate at the time and only take a new one if the previous one is dead. After she was done with them, she killed them. Because of our bond, no one could fight against her as it was physically impossible.
