It's moments like these that I really miss modern pens and pencils.
They do have writing utensils that look like pens, but they're dip pens and you have to dip them in ink often. Not to mention, the line width can be hard to control, but luckily I've grown used to using it due to my excessive amount of homework, so my handwriting isn't as messy anymore. Even in my past life, I remember being praised for having neat handwriting.
Anyway, the only reason why I'm thinking about this is that I'm currently writing a letter right now.
After the ink dried completely, I folded the paper and put it into an envelope. I then took a red candle, often used for letters, and heated it so I could drip the wax onto the envelope. Afterward, I took a seal to stamp the wax. I used a seal that's more for my own personal use, so it didn't have the Deianira family's insignia. I don't really want this letter to be drawn back to me or my household.
I called for my personal attendant and handed them the letter.
Just like how Violet had Mika, I also have a personal attendant or servant that would follow me around. However, I've had them off on a personal mission for the past few weeks, so I don't really see them often.
His name is Riven Vermillion. He's 14 years old, so he's 7 years older than me, but he was pretty tall for a 14-year-old. Befitting his last name, he has scarlet colored hair that could look like a bright red in the sunlight. He had jade-colored eyes and he was a low-intensity type of guy. He wasn't face-dead like me, he just had a really calm attitude. If I had to say whether he was attractive or plain, I would definitely say the former. He seemed like he could be another capture target, though he never appeared in the game.
Riven was actually the ideal attendant for me. He followed my orders expertly and he wasn't the type to gossip or tell any secrets. That's why I've been having him do a lot of errands for me since there's only so much I can do as a 7-year-old.
However, the only down-side to him, despite being an expert servant, was that he acted more like a mercenary sometimes. I didn't mean it like he was rough or anything, since he practiced good manners and all. What I meant was that he had greed for money like a mercenary. To be honest, if I didn't have the assets of the duchy behind me, he would probably betray me in a heartbeat or work for someone else. However, I don't think he would ever be swayed by people with evil intentions, so I can relax a bit... I think.
Anyway, after handing off the letter to him, I gave him some instructions on where to take it to.
"Go to the guild and deliver that letter. Wear a hood like usual and make sure you keep my identity a secret."
I grab a pouch from my drawer and also hand it to him.
"Give them that for the initial deposit on the request. There should be some extra that'll be used to make the request an urgent one."
He stared at me for a second, waiting for me to add something else. I sighed in my head.
"This month you've been working hard, so I think you deserve a bonus. Keep up the good work."
He then smiled gently and bowed.
"Yes sir, I will do my best."
Ahh, I feel like I'm getting robbed every time I talk to him. He's like the type that won't do any overwork unless he's getting paid for those extra hours and somehow always clocks out exactly on time at work. To be honest, that would probably be me, but I'm only realizing what it feels like to be on the other end of that as the boss of that guy.
He left the room after lifting his head and he had a very satisfied look on his face.
I swear he only has a happy face when money is involved.
