Ring! Ring! Ring!
Ring! Ring! Ring!
"What the..." Nishikata got up and turned the alarm clock off. "Why is it ringing...? I thought I turned it off when summer vacation began..."
He rubbed his eyes and scanned the room, until his gaze landed on the uniforms hanging on his closet door.
"Oh crap!" Nishikata jumped up as he realized what happened. He quickly grabbed the clothes and put them on franticly, then he rushed downstairs, finishing the breakfast in a concerning speed, dropping a "I'm off!" and left the house.
Dashing through the quiet streets as fast as possible, all the boy could think about was not getting to school late. Ignoring the cheerful sunshine, the lively clouds, and even the drowsy cats he usually would love to stop and pat. Eventually, he made it to school, and thank goodness, he wasn't late. In the classroom, several groups of friends were catching up with each other, creating quite a noisy environment. Nishikata, still panting, went to his seat and sat down.
"Good morning, Nishikata." The girl sitting next to him greeted.
"Good morning, Takagi-san." Nishikata greeted back.
"You thought you got up too late and rushed here, didn't you?" Takagi smirked in a fashion so familiar to Nishikata.
"Wha..." Nishikata jumped. "How did you know?!"
"I didn't." Takagi laughed. "But looks like I got it right."
"Errr..." Nishikata groaned. But then he realized something. "Wait, 'thought'?"
"Yeah." Takagi replied. "It's still 8:10. The class wouldn't start for another 30 minutes."
"EHHHHH?!" Nishikata wailed as he collapsed on the desk, which made Takagi burst into laughter. "Then why are people here so early!?"
"Probably because they can't wait to see their friends or love-ones." Takagi said. She glanced at the boy. "Same is for me."
"Eh? But I don't see Sumire anywhere..." Nishikata looked around.(note: Sumire is one of Takagi's best friends. You might remember her by the ponytail.)
"I'm not talking about her." Takagi sighed and turned her gaze away.
"Then who...?" Nishikata was confused.
"Who knows~"
Soon, the bell rang, and the class started. Tanabe-sensei walked into the classroom with the same menacing aura that Nishikata had grown to be afraid of.
"Alright class, today we are rearranging seats. Starting from number one, get up here and draw your new seating arrangement." He announced.
The news hit Nishikata like a truck. He glanced at Takagi. Her eyes were wide opened, looking as surprised as he was. There was a small hint of sadness that flashed through her expression, which she hid away instantly, yet he still noticed it.
'I want to sit beside you for a little longer.' The sentence echoed through Nishikata's head.
"New seat...! So excited...!" Takagi forced a smile. "Are you excited too. Nishikata?"
"Yeah..."
......
"What did you got." Takagi asked. "I got first column number 5."
"I got sixth column number 5." Nishikata replied. "The same as now..."
"Same row. Looks like bad eye sight can't be the excuse this time." Takagi sighed. "Anyway, I better get moving." She dropped the sentence and she carried her desk away.
