Everything was in perfect order.
there were only theorys of the world getting corrupt, everyone pushed them aside but I had recently joined a safety precautions group. There weren't many like this one. We had a bunker back from 2875. It was small and had a very tight enterance you had to crawl through. You'd crawl down and you'd see the first room. It was for the older and stronger kids who would go out and collect food and water and other supplies. It had rickety bunk beds and no light. If you kept crawling down you'd see the survivors room who don't do much except make room for the collectors and cook food and take care for the young children. We has practiced crawling in today. The only dead giveaway is that its in the basement of the healthy children institution program. I am currently relaxing in my room with my best friend. She has known me since I was born. Her father lived on a farm and one day an explosion went off. She believed the world was ending and as she ran she dislocated her ankle. All she could do was sit there and scream till her father came running out to carry her back into the house. His farm is one of the only one's still running, everything now is usually done with fake materials that you don't even grow. I visit her farm every so often. But today 4:20 pm I was relaxed eith my friend who was sleeping next to me on a rocking chair. I hear an alarm going. I'd thought it had been the automatic feeder for the plants but it was much louder. It indicated a toxic explosion or a nuclear war. My friend woke up in an instant. This sound was stuck at the back of her mind like the strongest glue in the entire world. We ran outside of the door and see two hovercrafts above the city ahead of us. We both run to the bunker, forgetting everyone we left behind and just kept running. When we got there we saw some others already in the basement. We crawled down and went to our rooms... Room. One of the kids were the same age as me but he was really short so he walked down easily. I went down on my stomach and kept my head low so I didn't hit the top of the small staircase. It was dark in the room but one of the kids carried a scented candle. We lit it and all settled down to catch our breath. My best friend calls over to me to sit next to her. She hands over a small box that carries three necklaces. She has one too. She hands me one of hers and I give one of mine. She gives the other one of hers to a different kid. I tell her
"If I ever die, you take my third"
which has a swan on it. She laughs with a slight hint of nervousness in it.
We sit there and see some of the other kids come in. My friends eyes go wide and she shouts "My Father!-" she stabds up and goes straight to the stairs but I pull her arm and remind her that I left my parents too. It hurt me aswell. How could I forget to take my own parents? We sit back down and I comfort her. A couple of older guys crawl in and tell us that everyone made it. Everyone cheers... Besides me and my friend.. The guys who crawled in last drop their bags of supplies and walk up to us. We dont bother to look up at them.
"cmon, you've got to get your room ready you two"
we nod and go to the 2nd set of stairs that lead to the survivors room.
we start to hear screams of people outside of the bunker. Screams of chileren. The gas has been released. I read up about it. First it blisters your skin as it digs its way into you. Then your nails start to bleed. then you get dizzy and start to go cold. When you've completely gone you start to sleep walk. Some people who get infected become dangerous and have dark intentions to either infect you or kill you. Anyways as me and my friend go to our room we see someone coming up behind us. She looks as scared as a baby without it's mother....
We turn to face her and she jumps, startled. we talk to her for a while and then enter the room. I call top bunk and my friend takes bottom. Then we lay down and doze off. I guess the running really tired us out. We wake up and hear the girl we met before sobbing. Behind her were cracks all up the wall. We walk out to the main room and see the collectors just came back. They were shouting and cursing
as I notice one of them were missing. They look around to make sure nobody is listening. Then I hear them "we were at the markets collecting food and Jason spoke to one of the infected girls. He got caught up. We left him behind." as one of them explained a tear rolled from his eyes onto his skin. I close the door gently so it doesn't slam or make a noise. I drop to my knees. They left him behind? That's brutal. What if he's still alive? No... He's gone... He has to be. I go to my friend and hold her tight. She stands in confusion as I bury my head into her shoulder.
I sleep on the floor and she sleeps next to me. We, both shaking in fear, make an oath to never leave eachother. Ever.
