We dozed off and it reached morning. We decided to talk to other people instead of just eachother. After all if we don't get along with others our time here will be boring and we'll lose faith of things ever going back to normal. We met some people we used to draw, artists, and they were amazing. They could draw with a rock and use wall as their canvas. There were others making blades out of a stone. they sliced through almost anything. I guess everyone has their talent. The floor starts to shake. I hear a loud explosion on the surface. Then I hear someone crawling down the stairs. The collectors haven't left yet so it wasn't them. Then I realise. Nobody has left yet. So whatever is coming in is something we dont know. I see a blisted hand appear. A red, blistered hand. It was the collector named Justin who had been left behind.
"I knew we should have killed him" shouted one of the collectors.
As he was crawling out my friend grabbed my arm and lead me to where others were runnnng. It was a secret exit. By secret I mean the owner of the group was the only one who had known it was there and someone must've seen him flee. We get out of the bunker and climb a slick greasy ladder. It leads up to the institution. I open a door and see tons of children covered in blood. Some look like they'd excaped a house fire. I slice my arm with one of the blades I had taken from the bunker and made it look like I was burnt and blistered. I'd learnt alot from those talented people. My friend does the same amd we try walk as how the children do. I drag my feet as if my brain were asleep. There were dozens of children in this room and I barely managed to avoid them. My friend got her jacket tugged at. They all called out
"please... Help.... Please-....?"
It was hard to ignore but she made it past them. We notice that nobody we knew was with us, they must've made it out already. We go to an elevator but it's jammed. There are no stairs. We're stuck. My friend starts twitching. Her eyes repeatedly switching from left to right. Then she grabs onto my arm and leaps out the window. It's like her soul came back into her body and she started screaming. It wasn't as high as we thought. We start making a run for it to the farm. We had finally gained a little hope. We knock on the door and hear a voice from inside
"Go away you slimey scumbags, I'm not going down today ya hear me?!"
It was her dad.
She calls out to me and I hear his feet thumping towards the door. It slams open and he squeezes her so tight she couldn't breathe for a good 3.2 seconds. He lets her go and then peers down at me. She shakes his head and a cloudy look goes over his face. He kneels down and tells me something I wish I never knew.
"Hey kiddo... I wish I didn't have to tell you this... I wish it wasn't this way but... Your parents... They didn't." he pauses and takes a deep breath. My heart sinks. He continues.
"They didn't make it."
I can't hold it in anymore. I drop to the floor on my knees. An ocean pours out of my eyes and I dont try stop it. I should've gotten my parents before I went to the bunker but I was selfish. I force a smile and push out some words
"atleast you have your daughter back"
But I meant it.
If you can prevent two familys being lost by taking one, let it be.
She gives me a tight hug.
After settling down we go outside to pick some of the few crops left. Then we cross a rope on the ground.
A kid a bit older then us runs up and slices the rope and leaps to slice a few more. Huge sheets of metal lift from the ground and lights start to appear. In a few minutes there was a Gi-normous metal circle with thick metal cords holding a dome in the center. The boy opens a door to the dome and sits inside. Then the circle starts to move like a bike wheel. Dirt comes flying off it big chunks. He brakes and climbs back out. He walks up to me and my friend. He looks directly at our hands. Nothing. Except for the slice I had done but most of the blood had came off. He stares at us for a moment then says "Hey, I'm Shaun. You two are with the big man huh?" we didn't. understand him.
"the farmer. The boss?"
Then my friend says
"farmer? That's my father"
Shaun looks confused. I think he's not catching on. Then he finally says
"I'm pretty sure he never had a daughter. But he did start a project on making one?"
now we weren't catching on.
we both ask.
"what do you mean make?"
then he realise.
He starts running to the house and says "I've said to much".
