Peter stared out at the beautiful view that was in front of him. Endless trees and endless sky. Even though he had only been living at Cair Paravel for a week, he had grown fond of the large balcony that was attached to his room. So far, he had walked out onto the balcony each evening and watched life in narnia take place. The soft breeze would always be so peaceful and he would watch the narnians light fires and have late night parties in the castles courtyard.

That was definitely his favourite part of being king. The narnians. After all, they're what made the country full of life and honour. He glanced over at the golden crown that now sat in its usual case at the other side of his room. He would often take his crown off as soon as he was done with his royal duties for the day. Mainly because it did weigh him down sometimes, mentally and physically. It was a lot of pressure to suddenly have responsibility for an entire country, but peter wasn't the type to back out. Not now anyway.

Her swerved back around and continued to watch the activities going on in the courtyard, that he hadn't heard the door to his room open.
"Hi" came a familiar voice from the door.

Peter glanced over his shoulder to see Edmund enter the room. "Your majesty" Edmund added, mocking his brother and pretending to bow before him. This was all in good fun of course. Edmund had been making that joke all week.

Peter chuckled slightly and turned around to face his brother. "Very funny" he said sarcastically and gave his brother a smile.

Edmund strutted over to the balcony to join peter. "Do you spend a lot of time here?" Edmund questioned as he leaned his arms on the stone edges of the balcony.
"Every night" peter replied as turned back around and looked up at the sun, that was now setting ever so slowly.
"You like watching the narnians, don't you" Edmund guessed, although he knew he was right.
"Of course I do. I want to be a ruler that cares about the narnians. I want to treat them all as equal" peter admitted, trying not to sound too noble.

"You already are" Edmund replied with a slight smile. "You have this habit of trying to protect everyone around you. Now you can use that habit to rule a country." He pointed out.

After a moment of silence, Edmund spoke up again, "is it scary?"

Peter gave Edmund a look of confusion.

"I mean...is it a lot of pressure? Knowing you're responsible for ruling an entire country?" Edmund clarified.

"To be honest with you, Ed. Yes, it is" peter replied rather bluntly, but with no hint of harshness in his voice. "But I can handle it. I always do" he added in reassurance...mostly reassurance for himself.

"Have you had any updates on...you know..." Edmund asked quietly, not wanting to say it out loud. Edmund was referring to the hunt for the remains of the witch's army. Some wolves had fled into the woods and the narnian forces had started to actively search for their whereabouts.

"Yes. Orieous has suggested we look around the outskirts of the woods. It seems like the most obvious hiding spot." Peter explained, his voice automatically getting quieter to match Edmunds tone.

"I guess that sounds about right" Edmund replied as he nodded in agreement. Almost like a reflex, he turned back to look at the now orange tinted sky.
Peter glanced at his brother.
"We'll find them, you know" peter stated confidently, mainly to reassure Edmund.
"They can't have gone far. Narnia is only so big" peter added as he placed a comforting hand on Edmunds shoulder.

Edmund definitely appreciated the comfort and knowing that peter was now in charge did make Edmund relax a little.

"Also, you don't have to knock everytime you enter my room. I set an extra bed up just in case your bad dreams get too much for you" peter pointed out as he pointed at the huge bed that stood at the other side of the bedroom.

When picking their rooms, Peter had wanted Edmund to share a room with him. In a way, Edmund had wanted that too...mainly because he wanted to spend as much time with his brother as possible.

But in the end, they had been given separate room...next door to each other. Edmund had insisted on the separation because he felt like his problems would be too much of a distraction for peters rule.
He obviously hadn't mentioned the reason he wanted separate rooms to his brother, not wanting to trouble him further.

"I appreciate it Pete...but I'm okay" Edmund replied with a brief smile. Peter could tell Edmund was stressed, but didn't want to push for the time being, so remained silent.

As they both glanced down at the narnian party occurring in the courtyard below, they spotted their youngest sister joining in with the dancing and music.
"Isn't Lucy supposed to be asleep?" Edmund questioned.
Peter let out a light hearted chuckle. "I told her she could stay up a little later to go to the narnian gathering. She absolutely adores them...just as they adore her"

"She's the best of us" Edmund muttered as he watched his sister dance around as the fire flew beautifully along with her movement.

Peter hummed in agreement.
"And susan?" Edmund questioned.
"Probably in the library"
"No surprise there" Edmund muttered.
"I quite like the library. I find I do go there when I need some piece and quiet. And I have been researching all about noble meetings and what is to be discussed. I'll have to get used to these meetings as I am now the high king." Peter clarified as he glanced back up at the glorious sky.
"It all still seems unbelievable" peter added after a moment. "Being in charge of an entire country"
Edmund hesitated before replying. "It's only unbelievable when no one believes in you. And I believe in you" he stated as he gave his brother a genuine smile.

This gave Peter all the confidence in the world. Hearing of his brothers belief in his rule did put a smile on Peters face.
"Thank you. That means a lot...especially coming from you" he stated.
"No problem" Edmund said with a laugh before returning to look at the sky.
"Tomorrow will be fine...you'll see"

but everything wasn't that simple, for peter would soon find something that would make him feel anything but fine.
