Maia and Chance rushed through her front door. Chance's foot caught in the welcome mat. His larger body collided with hers, sending them both tumbling inward. Maia landed hard on her back. Gravity pulled Chance unwillingly atop her. He quickly moved into a half push-up, trying desperately to avoid making unwanted contact.

Winded, she stared at him with wide eyes. A fierce blush creeping up her neck as his assessing gaze left nothing to the imagination. He panted above her but not in a manner that denoting exhaustion but one that spoke distinctly of excitement.

The heat of their joined bodies coiled around her. Her nipples puckered through her wet tee-shirt. A sweet yet soft ache called between her thighs. Maia had never known desire and thus the new sensations, while strange; were not unwelcome.

Chance's eyes lingered on Maia's lips, the cleft between her breast, and the obvious display of her nipples beneath her drenched clothing. He tried desperately to block out the imagery. Thoughts of all manner of things flashed through his head. With his body on the verge of reaction, he willed it back from the precipice.

Chance shifted his hips slightly, attempting to remove himself from proximity to temptation. A soft involuntary moan shook his resolve. He angled his head slightly toward her. The scent of her perfume rekindled the battle he'd been waging with his impatient body.

With Maia already beneath him, it was not difficult to imagine that instead of water, her skin was dewy with sweat. The rhythmic lift and bounce of pert breasts as he moved within her. The impassioned screams coursing through her at the height of her passion.

He gave a defeatist sigh. Despite his efforts, his mind betrayed and immobilized him. If he moved even an inch, she'd feel the raging hard-on he was no longer able to hide.

"Chance", She whispered her hand touching the bare skin of his forearm and the frenzied feeling was born anew.

Her shoulders moved and her soft chest brushed against his. He'd be lying if he said it didn't feel good. The only thing on his mind next was how to make these visions become reality. His body's betrayal made the truth of their situation that much clearer. He wanted Maia Erinti on a level beyond his understanding.

"Uh...I think we'd better get up," Her voice stammered nervously and her eyes avoided his. There was no way she didn't notice it was touching her leg.

When he didn't answer her hand wrapped around his wrist. "Chance?" She called again with a soft voice.

Chance wasn't sure if it was her femininity or the way her eyes showed such vulnerability but something primal roared inside him. He cupped the back of her head, wet hair fell between his fingers like damp silk and his grip tightened as he brought her lips to his in a bruising kiss.

The moment her shivering body softened against his, Chance regained control. Maia's legs clamped around his waist and her hands fisted in the drenched material of his sweater.

Heat filled the room. It was not the type to stifle, but the type one enjoyed. It deliciously covered the skin after what seemed like years spent in the icy grip of the dark. Chance broke the kiss. Kneeling above her, he peeled the sweater from his skin exposing his naked chest.

He had every intention of returning to her arms and the lips that beckoned him but his fascination was captured by a softly glowing incandescent light surrounding them. It was like sitting in the middle of a bite-sized galaxy.

"Maia," He whispered, "What... the... actual... fuck... is going on?" He watched the light fade and disappear. When his eyes found hers, the same light dimmed behind hers. She was its source.

Maia sat up leaning back on her elbows, "It...it's kind of hard to explain."

"I'm a quick study, Maia. I need answers." Chance shot to his feet grabbing his sweatshirt. "I kiss you twice in a span of less than thirty minutes and in that time some weird shit has happened. I need to understand, what the fuck is going on!"

He started pacing as Maia slowly climbed to her feet. She pushed close the front door moving further into the hallway. She knew there was no explanation she could give that he would understand. Once he knew she was different they'd leave again. She'd only just found her stride in this little backwater town. She finally didn't feel like a freak.

She cursed herself for her weakness. Had it not been for her desire to have Chance Lowell, this would never have happened. She had no control over the explosiveness of her powers around Chance. They were starting to surface on their own. Even powers she never knew she had.

She resigned herself to her fate. She knew exactly what would happen once she told him the truth. At least people would only think he was crazy when his rants began.

"Chance," She sighed, "I...I'm different."

He leveled an incredulous look, "Different how? Besides the time warp and the glowy shit. Are you like an alien?"

"Da fuck? No, I'm not an alien, Jackass, " She replied crinkling her nose, "I was born on Earth just like you."  Her face softened as she tucked her hair behind her ears. The pointed tips becoming grossly obvious.

"I just don't think that I'm entirely human," She couldn't look at him as the soft admission escaped her lips.

After a few moments, heavy footsteps pounded toward her as he approached. Until two feet sheathed in black and grey Jordon's were in her direct line of sight.

His hand slipped beneath her chin, tilting her head up so their eyes could meet. "So..." He added with a smile, "That's what you are."
