Professor McGonagall stands up and approaches the front podium. And everyone directs their attention towards her. "Today we have a new student." Everyone looks at eachother and starts whispering. Harry darted a look at Hermione and Ron. Ron shrugs his shoulders and Hermione says softly "maybe their letter got lost in the mail?" harry scrunches up his nose and says "they don't get lost". "SILENCE!" Mcgonagall gets handed the sorting hat. "y/n y/l/n come so we can get you into your house". Hearing my name I walk into the great hall and everyone starts staring at me and whispering. I look down for a second and reassure myself and look back up straightening my back and plastering a smile on my face. I approach Mcgonagall and she instructs me to sit and I do as she says. She puts the sorting hat on my head and it says "hmmm Slytherin would do you well but so would Gryffindor.. very intelligent.. witty.. hmmm.. GRYFFINDOR" she takes the hat off my head and i stand up walking to the Gryffindor table. I see people making room for me so I sit down and look at the people around me and i muster out a "hi..". A red headed boy widens his eyes saying "bloody hell she's american" and a girl with brown hair nudges him and sticks out her hand "I'm Hermione Granger.. and you are?" i shake her hand saying "y/n y/l/n" she smiles and says "pleasure to meet you! this is Ron" looking over at the red headed boy and then looking at a brown headed boy with glasses "and this is Harry" i smile at them "nice to meet you guys"
