Time Setting: 12 years old. 

"Balita ko aalis ka daw?" Deretsong tanong ni Daniel sa babaeng importante sa kanya.

"Oo eh." She said, and gave him a bitter smile.

As much as they didn't want to be away from each other, kaso, kinailangan eh. They were the best of friends kahit isang taon palang silang magka kilala. 

They have been classmates for 2 years already. Noong una pa nga parang aso't pusa ang dalawa kung mag away. Daig pa ang mag asawa. Pero, little by little, they set aside their difference and became friends.

Mahal ni Daniel 'tong babaeng 'to. Puppy love to say the least.

Yun nga lang. He was unsure of how she feels.

Besides, they both were still too young to pursue what they had into something more. At isa pa, aalis siya. 

They were hanging out in their favorite spot sa buong mundo - sa Chateau. It's a park located on the elevated part of the city. Parang "mini bundok" kumbaga.

From there, they felt that they were on top of the world. No one knew this place except for the both of them.

Naka upo lang sila sa bench, while looking at the view. Ka mangha-mangha ang view dito. The city lights, the fresh air, the serenity of the place at ang feeling na magkasama sila. Solid na yun para sa kanila.

Silence took over the place. 

Daniel looked at her intently. 

"Balik ka dito agad ha?" Sabi niya.

Napatawa ang babae kasi ang cute cute ng itsura ni Daniel. Nahampas niya ito ng mahina. "Hahaha. Oo naman noh! America lang yun. Distansya lang ang kontra natin. Numero lang yan. Nakalimutan mo nabang may internet na tayo? Kahit araw-araw mo akong i skype o facetime, okay lang." 

"Sabi mo yan ha." He smiled while biting his lip. "Tatanda-an ko yan. At, hoy Bernardo, wag kang mag bo-boyfriend o magka crush dun ha. Dapat AKO *sabay turo sa sarili* lang ang lalake sa buhay mo. Maliban sa papa mo dahil given na yun. Ay basta! Gets mo na yun!"

She laughed. She found it really cute that her bestfriend to be possessive of her. 

They just sat there, and talked for hours. The usual na ginagawa nila. Ina-asam nila 'tong moment nito because Kathryn isn't sure yet kung kelan siya babalik.

But, she will be back.

The day has came.

Kathryn had to leave the country.

She had to leave Daniel.

Daniel did not want for this day to come AT ALL. Sino bang gustong maiwan diba? Eh kung pwede lang sana, pumasok na siya sa loob ng luggage ni Kathryn at i smuggle ang sarili niya.

They were in the car, the usual, they talked and laughed. 

Kathryn will fly with her yaya since her parents had been there most of their lives. 

Noong naka baba na sila, Daniel picked up Kath's luggage at the back of the car.

"Kath! Ang bigat naman nito! Baka di mo na ako balikan dito ha! Pwede bang bawasan mo to?!" Reklamo niya. 

Then again, she let out a giggle. 

"Oa mo naman." 

"Ano sabi mo?"

"Wala sabi ko cute ka! Hahahaha." 

Napatawa ang yaya at driver ni Kath. Kinikilig rin siguro.

"Sir, ako na po. Ang patpatin nyo pa naman." Pag bibiro ng driver nila. 

"Aba kuya ha." 

"Hahahaha. Oo sige na po, sir. Hatid ko lang to sa loob." The driver and her yaya left.

He held her hand, and caressed it. 

"Kath, balik ka ha?" 

"I will. Eventually." She smiled.

"I will miss your smile, your giggles. Ikaw lang ata ang taong tumatawa sa korny kong jokes. Mamimiss ko yang katakawan mo. Na kahit alam kong busog ka na, kumakain ka parin. Hahahahahaha. Joke lang. Pero seryoso, I will miss you."

"I will miss you, too Daniel." And then, they hugged. Di nila namalayan na pareho na palang silang na iyak. 

They were each other's confidant. Kahit madalas malungkot si Kath kasi mag isa lang siya, he was always there to make her not feel alone. Kahit sobrang makulit si Daniel, sinasabayan parin niya ang kakulitan nito. 

"No one's gonna ever take your place." They thought.

After that warm embrace, Daniel kissed Kathryn. 

on her cheeks. 

"Pa baon ko na yan sayo. At least, ako ang first kiss mo.... kahit sa mataba mong pisngi man lang. Hahahaha." 

"Nang asar ka pa!" Sabay hampas niya sa braso ng kaibigan. "Umuwi ka na nga. Nang badtrip ka pa eh! Malelate na ako!" 

"Hahahaha. Loko lang! I'll miss you, Kath. At hoy, araw-araw face time ha." 

Tumango siya, sabay bitbit ng bag niya. "Oo nga. Bye, Padilla. See yah!" 

Ngumiti lang si Daniel. At habang papalayo na si Kath, "Bye, Bernardo. Love you." Bulong niya sa sarili niya.

He let out a sigh, and then left.

Noong first few months ng kanilang long distance friendship, smooth pa lang yung flow.

Facetime dito, chat doon. Twitter dito, bbm doon.

It was an everyday thing for them, until sa they both got busy with their separate lives.

Si Daniel bumibinata na. He met good friends, and decided to make a rock band. Na busy siya sa practices nila.

Si Kathryn, dumadalaga na rin. America did her well. She became busy with school organizations, and social events. They were an elite family in New York. It was an obligation to attend to social gatherings.

They communication went from everyday to,

occasionally..

to never.

They never thought that it they'd drift away from each other. But, it happened.
