Heroic Spirits. Heroes of mankind whose tasks had marked human history. Heroes, Kings or simply humans who had been celebrated as ones and who had ascended to the Throne of Heroes after their death.
I am the bone of my sword.
Two people were fighting a death battle to decree the possession of the Holy Grail, a magical artifact able to fulfil the wishes of the winner of the ritual, a Battle Royal where seven masters and as many servants kill each other.
Steel is my body and fire is blood.
Too many people had suffered and died in that ritual and that's what drove Yuto to to participate in the Holy Grail War. He wanted to end the ritual definitively, which his parents had attempted to do at the end of the previous war, failing because the sixth one had begun.
I have created over a thousand blade.
His full name was Yuto Pendragon and he was a unique person. A demi-servant, born from the union between a human and a Heroic Spirit.
His mother, Artoria Pendragon, was the Saber Class Servant of the Fifth Holy Grail War and was known as King Arthur, the King of Knights and King of Great Britain. His father, Shirou Emiya, was the master who summoned her.
Not even once retreating,
Not even once being victorious.
Yuto knew it would not be easy. Gilgamesh, the ancient King of Uruk and the oldest hero of mankind, was his last opponent.
The King of Heroes.
The man who glorifies himself to have all the prototypes of Noble Phantasms, crystallized legends in the form of a weapon that were wield by the various heroes of mankind.
Gilgamesh was a man with blond hair and red eyes. The upper part of his body was uncovered, revealing red symbols that denoted his kingship. The lower part was covered with golden armour.
Withstood pain to create weapons, waiting for one's arrival.
According to Gilgamesh, the world was his garden and people like Yuto were "mongrels" who dirtied it. They were useless and therefore had to be eliminated. And the Holy Grail was a treasure. As such, it belonged to him by royal right.
I have no regrets. This is the only path.
But Gilgamesh knew that Yuto and Saber would not stay aside, to watch the tyrannical King of Kings rule on his sparkling throne after most of humanity had been erased as unnecessary.
My whole life was Unlimited Blade Works.
The battle was fierce. Neither Gilgamesh nor Yuto and Saber were determined to give up. For a long time, the battle seemed to be in the hands of the King of Heroes when Yuto decided to use his Reality Marble.
A Singularity Space.
The inner world of Yuto.
It presented itself as an immense space inhabited by various weapons. Swords, spears, crossbows, and all the weapons that contained the concept of "Sword" were stored inside it, somewhat copied from the Gilgamesh's Gate of Babylon and other memorized by his father Shirou before Yuto inherited Unlimited Blade Works.
A world full of fakes. Gilgamesh hated it. In his opinion, it wouldn't have helped Yuto and Saber. Fakes were and fakes remained. They couldn't compete with his originals.
How wrong he was.
There wasn't a written rule that a fake couldn't beat an original.
Unlimited Blade Work was the weapon opposed to the Gate of Babylon. By the time Yuto deployed it, he was able to surpass Gilgamesh, destroying the prototypes.
