Lychee Chan- Age 3:
Mama and Papa take me to a new place. I don't recognize it at all. Mama has a strong grip on my right hand. The other holds my teddy bear as it drags behind me on the dirt floor. I look up a Mama,
"Mama, where at?" I glance around the open area lined with houses and trees, my big brown eyes searching for any kind of familiarity only to find none of it. Mama looks down at me and smiles.
"This is our new home, Lychee Chan! Can you say home?"
"Ha."
"Home," Mama repeats encouragingly. "Say 'home'." I try again wanting to make Mama especially proud of me.
"Hm!" Oh well I was close, better luck next time. Mama laughs and picks me up.
"Look, a park! Do you want to go to the park while Papa finishes up, Lychee Chan?" Mama turns to Papa who is doing hard work as he lifts big brown cubes into a house and they disappear when he comes out.
"Pa!" I respond. I want to go play at the park. Mama takes me to parks all the time. I like playing on the swings and slides. Mama puts me down and holds my hand, her hand warm and soft but also strong and sturdy. I trip and lose my red Lychee cap. "My ha!" I cry out. Mama picks up my lost cap, dusts it off, and places it awkwardly back on my white creamy head.
"Don't worry baby, I have it right here." I fix my hat and hold out my hand, waiting for Mama to hold it again. We walk to the park together. It's much bigger and more colorful than the park Mama and Papa took me to before. It has four colors instead of two. I get excited and wander around, exploring every nook and cranny.

Dragon fruit kun-Age 4:
I play around the park liek I always do when my cousins Yellow Dragon Fruit Kun and Chan come visit. But I just call the Sun and Yellow. Sun calls me Red, but Yellow always calls me Pink. Pink is a girl name, but I don't care when he says it.
"Yellow, help me get up!" I wag my spiky pink tail around, determined to get to the high platform using the ladder just like Sun and Yellow did. Yellow comes down and raises me up onto his shoulders. Sun comes down to, to make sure Yellow or I fall down on the way up.
"Yellow! Be careful with him! If you drop Red you're dead fruit!" Sun holds her hand out, ready to catch us—mostly me though, because I'm smaller.
"Yeah, yeah. I know what I'm doing! I'm not a idiot." Yellow slowly raises us up a bar higher.
"Yeah you are." I reply. I watch as the ground below us gets smaller and hold onto Yellow tighter, scared of falling off. Sun laughs, Yellow only scoffs. We go up again and I feel like I'm about to slip. I pull myself closer to Yellow's head and grunt. Yellow yelps as I pull some of his hair with me. There's only one bar left. Yellow tells me to climb over his head onto the platform as Sun runs up a different set of ladders to help pull me up. I stumble and fall on my face as I try to leap over Yellow's horns.
"Ouch!" Sun holds up my face checking for injuries as Yellow climbs up behind me.
"Hey, you okay Pink?" I pull away from Sun, watching the ground below me wait to eat me while if I fell.
"Yeps!" I hold the rails and look around. I've never been this high before. If my mom found out, she'd kill me for sure. I always fall off ladders. I never broke anything though. Everyone tells me it's because I'm tough. I think I'm just about the toughest person in the entire world. I bet even my super ultra tough dad couldn't beat me in a fight, even if he's bigger than me.
