Marlene's POV
It was three weeks since Sirius was put in Azkaban, two weeks since the Potters funeral, and one week since Remus went into hiding.
Minerva had been crying all night. She finally fell asleep at 1:00AM.
Right then, I was sitting on the edge of my bed, thinking. We had lost so much in so little time. James, Lily... Sirius.
I didn't know if I could do it in my own. But I had to. I wanted Minnie to live in a better world than the one we do now. She couldn't do that if all her mother did was wallow in self pity.
As a pureblood, my family is rather wealthy. However, my parents' will states that all the money goes to charity. Therefore, I need a job to support Minnie.
I made the decision to live in the muggle world for some time. I needed a break from the Wizarding World.
I found an apartment with two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a small living room. Minerva and I moved there. Across the street was a café where I worked during the day. Emmaline agreed to watch Minnie while I was at work. Emmaline refused payment.
Every night I cried myself to sleep.
