Kryptos gazed triumphantly at a small, dark, empty room. But where was Ford...? There was an old, decrepit man, huddled on the ground, shivering, his beard long and his gaze haunted. Surely this couldn't be him... right? Kryptos peered closer and shuddered when he saw a six-fingered hand. This was definitely him.

Kryptos had seen much worse done to other people, but this was someone his friends cared about. This was different. Ford looked his way, and his eyes widened. "Listen to me, boy," he said, grabbing his shoulders, his eyes intense. "You have to get out of here! It's not safe! She's human now, but sh-"

Laughter echoed throughout the room, and the scenery flickered, revealing different things. Kryptos, lying on the floor, screaming, Bill, being chased by something, Dipper falling to his knees in the clearing... And four figures, followed by a fifth, and only four coming back out.

Ford's eyes rolled back in his head as he collapsed, convulsing, his limbs twitching every so often. "Now, now," the triangle's voice mocked. "What have I told you about talking to strangers?" Their voice turned cold. "I don't remember inviting you here. I don't like uninvited guests. Or eavesdroppers, for that matter."

"What're you planning!?" Kryptos shouted.

A blue triangle appeared in front of him, and its eye narrowed. "That's for me to know. You, on the other hand..." their eye shined with malice, and she clenched one hand into a fist, and Kryptos screamed as a bolt of pain slammed through his head, bringing him to his knees.

"You know, maybe I was wrong to be so hasty," the triangle mused as they watched Kryptos writhe on the floor. They waved cheerily at him, as his form began to fade. "Come back anytime! I may not appreciate eavesdroppers, but they are so fun to torture!" The last sound Kryptos heard was the triangle's laughter, ringing in his ears...

"GAH!!!" Kryptos woke up with a start, his head still aching. "I have to tell them!" He ran out of the room, his eyes frantic.

Lila smiled to herself as she sat in the passenger seat, Mabel driving home. She had felt someone invade Ford's prison, and when she felt the other consciousness shrink back and disappear, she knew her defense mechanism had taken care of it. Plus, she was getting to stay with the Pines. Pacifica's parents had finally had enough, not being able to stand having a "hobo" even in the same house.

Lila felt her heart fill with pity. Poor Pacifica, she had cried so hard. She had confessed to Lila earlier that summer that she didn't have any real friends. Anyone that wasn't rich or shallow enough for her parents' tastes was immediately dropped. It's better this way, Lila told herself. After all, I was just using her. Why should I feel bad? She was just a tool. Lila glanced out the window. And besides, I'm going to destroy this miserable planet anyway. But suddenly, the idea didn't appeal to her as much...

"Whatcha thinking about?" Mabel asked curiously, glancing her way and knocking over a trashcan.

"Just glad to be out of the hospital," Lila lied.

"Oh my God!" Mabel gushed. "That nurse was like, the best! She gave me her address, so I could come over to her house sometime!"

Lila laughed. "You can really make friends with anyone, can't you?"

"Yup!" Mabel said, popping the p. "Ack-" Mabel let out a startled yelp as she drove off the road and into the grass. She quickly set her gaze back on the road.

Lila felt a pang. She was never able to make friends back home... she gazed out the window, letting her mind wander. With Bill as a brother, it was nearly impossible. Everyone was afraid of her because they thought she was like Bill, and then once they realized how insecure she was about her family, they just did whatever they want. They picked on her constantly, Bill never too far behind.

Bill always seemed to know just what to say to break her down, each vile word he spoke voicing her worst fears, what she hated about herself. He was never happy with his life, constantly frustrated. While most younger demons saw school as a way to make friends, he found it dull. Why bother going over stuff you already know, since your an all-knowledgeable demon?

Why stay in one dimension, when you could conquer all the cosmos? It didn't help that being a triangle meant getting the short end of the stick for all eternity. Lila remembered how tired her parents always were. They weren't happy with their lives, but they did it anyway, because what else could they do? Just the same jobs, for all of eternity.

Now, thinking back on it, she hadn't always been satisfied, but she knew if the destruction of her planet hadn't occurred, she would've lived out her days there. But now... with all the wondrous things she'd encountered, and realizing she was one of the most powerful entities ever...

She couldn't believe she was ever that satisfied with such a small life. In a way, she understood why Bill had gotten frustrated, but she would never understand why he had done such an awful thing... A memory strained the surface, one she'd long since tried to forget, and succeeded. She pushed it down, as always.

That was something even after all this time, Lila didn't want to remember. Something she still found traumatizing, even after all the horrible things she had done- Horrible? What I'm doing isn't horrible, Lila reminded herself. I'm delivering justice. Everything I've done is for good. Everything. Is Earth changing me...?

"We're here!" Mabel announced with a grin, getting out of the car and slamming it shut, her ponytail swinging with each step. Lila got out, her gaze locked on a frantic Kryptos, who was trying to talk to Bill and Dipper. "Wonder what's going on over there," Mabel mused.

"Let's go see," Lila said, walking over. "Hey, guys! Good news, I'm ok! Just a slight concussion."

Kryptos broke off from what he was saying, letting out a nervous laugh. "I'm so glad!"

Lila looked at each face. Nervous, alarmed, concerned. "You guys ok?" Lila took a worried tone.

"Yeah," Dipper replied. "We were just talking."

"Ok," Lila said, shrugging.

"Guess what guys!!!" Mabel shouted, throwing her arm around her friend.

"Hmmm... Mr. Pines finally got shipped off to prison for good?"

Bill rolled his eyes. "Rhetorical question."

"Nope!" Mabel yelled cheerfully. "Although honestly, Grunkle Stan probably should be in prison by now... Anyway, Lily's gonna stay with us, because she got kicked out of Pacifica's mansion!"

Dipper groaned. "Ugh, I thought Pacifica was getting better. What a snob."

"Her parents made her, actually," Lila interjected suddenly.

"Oh," Dipper said, unsure what to think. "Ok."

"Anyway, let's go inside!" Mabel grinned, dragging them all inside.

Lila sighed, sitting up on the couch. It'd been a long day. Everyone had spent time together, whether it was games, T.V, or annoying Mr. Pines. Lila smiled at the thought, then she gritted her teeth, her hands curling up into fists at her sides. What was happening to her? She couldn't get distracted. Not now. "I'm so close," Lila whispered in the darkness. She remembered how Mabel's eyes danced, and how warm and welcoming they all were towards her, and she felt a pang.

"Just a little longer, Lila..."

A/N: Hi guys, so glad I can publish this! My brother was kind enough to let me borrow his Chromebook, so thanks, Tayden! So yeah, if you didn't look at my conversation you check out my most recent message. My time is probably going to be more limited on the Chromebook since Tayden uses it a lot.

If you liked this chapter, please consider giving it a vote. Thank you all so much for reading! I have almost three hundred views on the very first book I wrote on here... I'M NOT CRYING, YOU'RE CRYING!!! Thank you guys, from the bottom of my heart. It makes me so happy to know that my books, from a nerdy thirteen-year-old, are loved. Thank you.

Thanks, a geek.
