CHAPTER 1
I smiled sincerely at Everett as he pushed the door open for me. I studied the ground that I was currently stepping on. I wonder how many microscopic organisms were there. I wonder if how many human beings stepped on that pavement before me.
Why was I even being oh so intrigued by the ground? It was never interesting to me before
“Thanks” I told him, I lifted my head up and stared at the sky. It was really beautiful. I could tell that the sun was going to set soon even though I haven’t checked the time yet.
I took another step when I tripped oh so ungracefully. You see, this is why people like me shouldn’t get distracted while walking. They all end up tripping or something. Why oh why haven’t I noticed the object in front of me?
This is why I prefer writing love stories that actually experiencing it. In the stories, whenever the main character falls or trips, the guy always swoops in to save from drastically hitting the ground but in reality, no, you just have to let the floor hug you- in a painful manner.
I immediately stood up and winced when I felt a sting on my left knee. I checked my knee to find that it was bleeding. No wonder. Great, now Everett would probably think that I am peculiar or something.
Gab, who knows, maybe he isn’t the type to judge
Oh who am I kidding? Most or all people judge everything.
It’s quite sad, isn’t it?
I looked around, searching for a certain dude named Everett although; he was nowhere to be seen. I sighed as I limped towards a near place wherein there’s less people. I sat there for a while, blowing my knee in order to stop the pain. I inhaled and was about blow when wet cotton touched my knee. I winced. I’m assuming that there was an alcohol included in that wet thing. I lifted my head to find a dude focusing on my wound. I cocked my head, studying his features. He has this really small mole under his eyes. And I also noticed how his eyebrows furrow and his mouth parts when he is focusing. Oh gosh. I sound like a stalker. He looked up and I immediately looked away, staring at a random dude talking to chick. It looks like they are flirting with each other.
Gross dude! Keep it PG
I cried out when a drop or more of alcohol landed on my wound. I bit my lip to avoid whimpering like a puppy. “Sorry” he apologized, not leaving his eyes off my wound that he’s cleaning. I closed my eyes, trying to distract my pain by imagining some other things.
“All done”
I opened my eyes slowly to find a pair of blue eyes. I stood up and brushed the dust away from my pants. I could feel his gaze on me. I was seriously scared to look up, which is why I just stared at my nails. I probably look like an idiot. Well this is awkward.
“So…” he started. I could tell that he could feel the awkward aura around us.
“So…”
“I think I’ll just take you home. You’re probably really tired which is why you tripped a while ago” he ended his statement with a chuckle- a deep one.
“I think I’ll just use my car instead. No offense but I just met you. You might be a kidnapper or something”
He laughed, “If you really think I am a kidnapper then you shouldn’t have gone out with me for a lunch.”
Touché
“Well the sound of food was tempting. Don’t judge”
He laughed at my comment, his eyes crinkled at the sides. That’s cute.
“Fine then,” he told me.
I waved a goodbye and turned around. I was about two steps away when someone grabbed my wrist and turned me around. “Your number”
I took my pen out of my purse and took his hand. I wrote my number on his palm and gave him a hi-five. In my defense, I have no idea what to do.
